Formal Complaint Follow-Up - ***

The customer service response has been frustrating and unhelpful. Instead of addressing my formal complaint regarding unnecessary service frequency, lack of service bundling, and an out-of-pocket overcharge for a prematurely replaced microfilter, the team simply forwarded internal job cards back to me without any explanation or resolution. Passing along raw documents without engaging with the clear evidence of premature billing on my invoices shows a total lack of accountability and efficiency. I expect Head Office to actually investigate the overcharge and address the fragmented service practices rather than sending copy-paste automated replies.

Why pay for fault finding if the fault is obvious and visible?!

I went to a dealership for a service for my Company Car (116i) and had 2 issues I needed looking at: Irregular Idling Aircon not working - I paid to have the aircon fixed around 6 months earlier. The service advisor mentioned the R1700 fault finding for each, which I then said that I will first speak to my boss about it. The standard service and rear brake pads was done (R13000). When collecting the car, the service advisor said she can point out the problems on both, which I have to say, is something a person with a LITTLE car experience would have picked up straight away. When opening the bonnet, one could see the one air pipe being broken, and on the one pipe one could see where the coolant leaked. I am not that way inclined, so would not even have seen either. Now the real complaint. Considering that for the trained eye, these probably took 10 seconds to diagnose, I asked the advisor if I can bring the car back to have those 2 issues sorted, to which she replies that they will still have to charge the R1700 fault finding fee for each. I then said that "it is not needed because the faults are identified", and as mentioned, "probably took the trained eye 10 seconds, why do I still have to pay the R3400". To which she answered: "That is how BMW works, and we have to report it to them". My response was something like... "This is not a warranty issue where BMW pays, I pay, so no need to report it to BMW", she then just said: "That is just how it works". The nett effect here, is that it just feels to me that because I love my BMW, and BMW knows that to be true, because they also love theirs, as if BMW will just ride on that fact and because we love our BMW's as much as we do, that we will just pay, and pay. Well, I am not sure I agree... I will pay what is due and fair is fair, but don't open an umbrella.........

************** by sales representatives BMW Kempton Park (Nosi) and sales manager (Wesley)

When I purchased my vehicle, BMW Kempton Park intentionally provided it with old tyres. When I brought this to your attention, Head Office refused to resolve the issue or provide new tyres. To make matters worse, I am now being forced to chase BMW Kempton Park simply to get my vehicle registration papers. The service from my sales representative, Nosi, has been entirely unprofessional. Every time I follow up on my papers, she reacts with anger. She routinely "blue-ticks" my text messages, intentionally ignoring my queries for hours before offering a delayed response. Instead of receiving proactive communication and feedback, the burden has been placed entirely on me to follow up constantly. Given the combination of poor vehicle preparation, a refusal to rectify the tyre safety issue, and the ongoing struggle to get my documents, I am deeply disappointed to be treated like this as a Black customer. A premium brand should offer equitable, professional service to everyone, yet I feel targeted and completely disregarded.

BMW South Africa – Extremely Poor Customer Service

I am extremely disappointed with BMW South Africa and the way my complaint has been handled. A BMW dealership supp**** me with the incorrect part, and instead of taking responsibility and resolving an error made on their side, I have been passed around and given excuses. I have now been without my vehicle for two full days because of this. What makes this even more frustrating is that I have followed the proper channels and still cannot get someone to take ownership of the situation. For a brand that markets itself as premium, this level of customer service is completely unacceptable. I am now escalating this matter further because apparently the normal BMW channels are incapable of resolving a straightforward customer complaint. BMW South Africa needs to take accountability and resolve this matter.

BMW'S Unavailability of Parts with NO lead time.

I am highly disappointed with the service I am receiving from BMW South Africa after my vehicle has been stuck in a BMW workshop for a month due to parts unavailability. I specifically chose to purchase a BMWs for the past decade because of its reliability of the brand being the main factor and its heart breaking to be going through so much frustration and dissatisfaction at this point. I am writing this email simply because the parts that I am waiting for still doesn’t have an ETA from order date 22nd July 2026 to date. 5 weeks later and who knows how much longer still nothing while i struggle the get around. On the online page there's a misrepresentation that states that customer service is available on weekends Saturday 08:00 - 13:00 and to my disappointment there no one available to talk to during the said times as per web page. The service breakdown at this point is unbelievable from such a reputable brand. Loyal dissatisfied customer Nolo

AUDI here I come

BMW Kempton Park & BMW South Africa Refuse to Acknowledge Independent Findings In April 2026, I purchased a BMW demo vehicle from BMW Kempton Park. Within four days of taking delivery, I reported serious concerns relating to the vehicle's steering behaviour and Front Park Distance Control (PDC) system. From the first week of ownership, the vehicle pulled noticeably to the left. The pull was significant enough that releasing the steering wheel resulted in the vehicle deviating from its lane rather than maintaining a straight path. The vehicle was returned to BMW Kempton Park on multiple occasions during the first month of ownership. Despite spending more time at the dealership than in my possession, I was repeatedly advised that the vehicle was operating within specification and that the behaviour was attributable to road camber or road crown rather than any mechanical defect. BMW confirmed that wheel alignments had been carried out and that the vehicle had been driven by dealership staff and a BMW South Africa technical representative. I was assured that no fault could be found. Unfortunately, each time the vehicle was returned to me, it exhibited the same behaviour. In fact, after one of the alignment procedures, the steering wheel was no longer centred. As my concerns were not being resolved, I commissioned an independent technical inspection through DEKRA. The DEKRA report identified: • Steering not self-centralising. • Poor alignment with a recommendation that the rear wheel alignment be rechecked. • A steering malfunction recorded during the road test. • Residual traces of repair on the bonnet and front bumper. Most importantly, DEKRA's findings directly support the concerns I raised with the dealership within days of taking delivery of the vehicle. BMW South Africa subsequently advised that its Technical Support team conducted inspections, steering evaluations, road tests, wheel alignment verification, and comparative testing against another BMW G20. However, BMW's conclusion was that no defect exists. When I requested the technical reports and documentation supporting BMW's conclusion, including diagnostic reports, road test findings, technical assessments, and comparative test records, BMW declined to provide them, stating that these documents form part of internal company records. This leaves me in a position where BMW asks me to accept its conclusions while refusing access to the evidence upon which those conclusions are based. I find it particularly concerning that an independent DEKRA inspection identified steering and alignment-related deficiencies, while BMW maintains that there is no defect and has closed the case. My expectation as a customer is not only that safety-related concerns reported within days of delivery are thoroughly investigated, but that the process is transparent and supported by evidence. As matters stand, BMW South Africa's findings differ materially from those of an independent DEKRA inspection, and I have therefore escalated the matter to MIOSA for further investigation. I hope BMW South Africa will reconsider its position and engage transparently so that this matter can be resolved fairly and objectively. Prabashne Dooms
