AI Review Summary

Based on recent customer reviews, Suzuki Auto South Africa presents a sharply divided picture. Individual dealership sales consultants earn glowing, name specific praise, yet customers consistently report catastrophic mechanical failures on nearly new vehicles, rejected warranty claims, and stalled workshop repairs. A recurring theme is customers having to chase the dealer network and head office repeatedly for updates that never arrive, leaving vehicles off the road and owners out of pocket.

Top Strengths:

  • Sales & Purchase Experience: The buying journey is where the brand performs best. Buyers single out consultants at Strijdom Park, Eastvaal Witbank, Rivonia and Britz for smooth, transparent purchases, though deposit refunds, stock waiting lists and handover preparation frequently sour the experience.

Disgrace service

Bassonia If you are thinking of buying a car from Suzuki Bassonia, I strongly suggest you think twice. I have never experienced such poor after-sales service from a dealership, and the way I have been treated as a customer has been absolutely unacceptable. I bought a brand-new car from Suzuki Bassonia, expecting to have peace of mind. Instead, within a short period of owning the car, it started misbehaving. The problem eventually escalated to the engine warning light coming on. I took the car back to the dealership, and I was told they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Because I wasn't satisfied with that response, I escalated the matter to Head Office. Only then did I feel that my concerns were being taken seriously. The dealership took the car back again, and unbelievably, I was even told that the engine warning light was apparently coming on because of the way I was starting the car. At that point, I honestly couldn't believe what I was hearing. Eventually, they replaced parts they said were causing the problem. The car was fine for roughly two months — and then the same issue started again. I contacted Suzuki Bassonia and was told to bring the car back. I was also told that I would receive a courtesy car while they continued liaising with Head Office. I did what I was asked. Then I waited. I contacted the lady handling the matter to ask for feedback on my car and the courtesy vehicle. I was told she was still waiting for a courtesy car. That was in July. It is now September. Months later, I am still dealing with the consequences of buying what was supposed to be a brand-new, reliable vehicle. Let's be clear: I understand that mechanical problems can happen, even with new cars. What I do not understand is the complete lack of urgency, communication and accountability when a customer repeatedly reports a problem. I paid for a new car. I should not have to beg for basic customer service. This entire experience has been so frustrating that Suzuki Bassonia has genuinely made me fall out of love with my car. A new car should bring excitement and peace of mind. Mine has brought stress, disappointment and endless frustration. Suzuki Bassonia, you took my money quickly enough. Why has it taken you months to take my problem seriously? I would not recommend this dealership based on my experience. Prospective customers should think very carefully about the after-sales service they may receive once the paperwork is signed and the money has changed hands. This isn't the customer experience I expected when buying a car. @Suzuki_ZA this is an absolute disgrace.

Bad service! Seized engine. New car!

Suzuki Auto South Africa — An Absolutely Disgraceful Customer Experience I am honestly gatvol and disgusted with the way Suzuki Auto South Africa has handled what should have been a straightforward warranty matter. I bought my Suzuki Ertiga brand new. The vehicle is not even a year old and has only travelled approximately 66,000 km. Despite being a relatively new vehicle, the engine has now seized — an extremely serious and concerning failure for a vehicle of this age and mileage. What makes this situation even more unacceptable is that the vehicle was last serviced at Suzuki Centurion. Shortly after leaving their workshop, the vehicle experienced a serious loss of power. The driver also reported that the oil warning light remained illuminated for longer than normal. The vehicle subsequently broke down and was taken to Suzuki Mokopane, where the engine was diagnosed with a major failure/seizure. At this point, I expected Suzuki to do what any reputable manufacturer should do: investigate the matter properly, take accountability for the vehicle having been serviced within its dealer network, and provide a reasonable solution under the manufacturer’s warranty. Instead, I have experienced an extraordinary lack of urgency, communication, accountability and basic customer care. The customer care process has been slow, inefficient and incredibly frustrating. You constantly have to chase for information, follow up on matters that should already have been dealt with, and essentially do the work of the customer-care department yourself just to get answers. And then there is the service manager at Suzuki Centurion, Rico. The attitude and manner in which this matter has been handled have been deeply disappointing. Rather than demonstrating compassion, accountability or any genuine concern for a customer who has purchased a brand-new vehicle and is now facing a seized engine, I have experienced an attitude that comes across as dismissive and completely unwilling to take responsibility. The vehicle was serviced at his workshop. Shortly thereafter, it suffered a catastrophic engine failure. Yet despite the seriousness of the circumstances, there appears to be no willingness whatsoever to properly engage with the situation or take ownership of what happened within the dealership’s service environment. Even more shocking is that Suzuki has rejected my warranty claim and expects me to carry the cost of repairing the engine myself. Let that sink in. A customer buys a vehicle brand new. The vehicle is less than a year old, has approximately 66,000 km on it, is serviced within the Suzuki dealer network, and shortly afterwards suffers a catastrophic engine failure — and the response from Suzuki is effectively: you must fix it yourself. That is not the level of service, accountability or confidence I expected when purchasing a new Suzuki. I chose Suzuki because I believed I was buying into a reputable automotive brand backed by a manufacturer and dealer network that would stand behind its products. Instead, this experience has completely changed my perception of the brand. Suzuki Auto South Africa has not simply failed to resolve my problem — they have failed to make me feel like a valued customer at all. A vehicle can break down. Mechanical failures happen. What determines the reputation of a manufacturer is how they treat the customer when something goes wrong. And based on my experience, Suzuki has failed that test spectacularly. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for accountability, a proper investigation, transparent communication and a fair resolution to a catastrophic engine failure on a nearly-new vehicle. At this stage, my biggest disappointment isn’t even the engine failure. It is the way Suzuki has handled me as the customer. Brand-new Suzuki. Catastrophic engine failure. Dealer service history. Warranty rejected. Customer left to deal with the consequences. This has been one of the worst customer-service experiences I have ever encountered with a vehicle manufacturer. Suzuki Auto South Africa — you can and should do better.

Extremely Disappointed with Suzuki After-Sales Service

I am extremely unhappy and disappointed with the after-sales service I have received from Suzuki. I purchased my vehicle brand new, expecting the reliability and peace of mind that comes with buying a new car from a reputable manufacturer. However, after only one year and approximately 30,000 km, the automatic gearbox has failed and the vehicle is now in for a warranty claim. What is even more disappointing is the way this situation has been handled. It has now been two weeks, and despite the vehicle being under warranty, I have still not been properly assisted with a courtesy vehicle. I am left without reliable transport while waiting for a warranty repair on a vehicle that I bought brand new. A gearbox failure at only 30,000 km is extremely concerning in itself, but the lack of urgency, communication and customer support afterwards has made the situation even worse. I honestly expected far better from Suzuki. At this point, I am seriously considering selling the vehicle and never purchasing a Suzuki again. This experience has completely changed my perception of the brand. I am disgusted and extremely disappointed that a customer who purchased a brand-new vehicle is being left in this position. Suzuki needs to seriously reconsider how it handles warranty claims and, more importantly, how it looks after its customers when things go wrong.

Defect in brand new car: DO NOT buy SUZUKI!

Suzuki Centurion sold me a **defective brand-new car**, and was supported and enabled by Suzuki SA And I want to stress **brand new**. This was not a used car with an existing problem. The air-conditioning fault was present from the day I bought the car, and this is provable from Suzuki's own records. The car has now been sent back to Suzuki Centurion **three times** for the same problem. The first time, they re-gassed the air-conditioning. About a month later, the problem returned. We took it back again, they acknowledged the fault, re-gassed it for a second time and added dye to the system to help find the leak. Except now, somehow, **there are no records of that second visit.** The third time, Suzuki had my car for **four days**. They still did not find the fault. They still did not fix the fault. And now they are telling me there is no fault because the air-conditioning was working when they tested it. But that completely misses the point. **The fault is intermittent. It was never found and it was never fixed.** For three whole months, I was fobbed off with kind words and bad service. Eventually, I had to raise my voice — and by that I mean I stopped accepting the excuses and started insisting on the pure, logical facts. **There was no swearing, no insults and no abuse.** And that, unfortunately, is when you get a very good idea of what the Suzuki company culture is all about. This dealership sold me a defective new car, sent it for repair three times, failed to fix the problem, and somehow lost the records of the second visit. Either they were **sloppy and failed to record the history of the problem properly, or the records were deliberately lost.** Either way, neither is acceptable. I have now been told that Suzuki will not replace the vehicle or properly rectify the problem. I have spent my hard-earned money on a **brand-new car**, and I should not have to fight this hard simply to get what I paid for. **Suzuki Centurion sold me a defective new vehicle, refuses to rectify it, and cannot even keep an accurate record of its own attempts to deal with the problem.** I would not recommend anyone spend their hard-earned money on a Suzuki! **Avoid at all costs.**

Suzuki SA & CMH Suzuki Ballito have had my Suzuki Grand Vitara since 31 March 2026

After more than 4 months, countless follow-ups, multiple escalations, and providing every document requested, I still have no clear resolution, no timeline, and no accountability. I have been repeatedly told that they are awaiting feedback from Suzuki SA, yet the vehicle remains off the road and unusable. The lack of communication and customer service has been extremely disappointing.

Suzuki not delivering

I ordered a Suzuki Across on 20 May 2026 and still waiting. According to Thorp Suzuki Parow I am nr 1 on the waiting list, but SA Suzuki said 2 weeks ago I'm 4th. I paid a deposit, it is a cash deal, no financing. Is this the reason why I am still waiting because no one is going to make money with financing. On the 20th it will be 3 months. How can you advertise and sell motors if you don't have stock?
