Spark school has no empathy.

My daughter has been with spark weltevreden park primary since grade R - she's now in grade 2. I have never missed a payments and ran in any arrears now in June I spoke to Ntokozo Nkosi <***> and asked her to cancel aftercare for my daughter due to a sensitive reason mentioned on the email sent to her, well Ntokozo told us that we have to give 3month notice and there is nothing she can do - though the matter at hand was unforeseen and unplanned. she just made it clear that no matter our reason that is not her problem she wants the money if not 3 months was app****. today 13-10-2026 I follow up with her and she still insists on getting the money anything else she does not care about. I need urgent help with this matter because it is serious and Ntokozo does not care about the Parants of Sparks - she has made that clear to me on the emails.

Unreasonable Financial Exclusion of Learners Despite Resumed Payments – SPARK Centurion

I am disappointed with how SPARK Centurion has handled my family's financial difficulties. After a period of unemployment, I have secured employment and we have resumed payments towards the outstanding school fees. We have never intentionally avoided our financial responsibilities and remain willing to settle the arrears but within a reasonable time , not full amount. Despite our circumstances being explained and payments resuming, SPARK is insisting on full settlement of the arrears and has instructed us to collect our children from school, with only about three months remaining in the academic year. I acknowledge the outstanding debt, but I find this approach inconsiderate given that we are actively trying to recover financially and meet our obligations. I believe a reasonable arrangement could allow the children to complete the academic year and receive their final reports while we continue addressing the arrears. I request that SPARK management urgently reconsider this decision, allow the children to complete the school year, and engage with us on a realistic way forward.

Discipline Should Guide a Child, Not Break Their Confidence

I am extremely concerned about the way minor incidents involving my son are being escalated. He was accused of “backchatting,” yet when I asked the teacher exactly what he had said, I was told his response was simply, “Okay.” I understand he should follow instructions promptly, but calling that backchatting feels disproportionate. On another occasion, he was removed from class for asking another learner for a pen, resulting in him missing the lesson. The following day, another issue was escalated because he brought flavoured still water to school, including a reflection form. As the parent who provides what he takes to school, surely I should simply have been informed that flavoured water is not permitted. These incidents occurred across consecutive days and involved different teachers. I support discipline and will correct my child when necessary, but discipline must be reasonable and educational, not punitive over every minor mistake. Constantly labelling and escalating small incidents risks damaging a child’s confidence and making school feel like a place of punishment rather than learning. As a mother of boys, I am increasingly concerned about how boys with strong personalities are managed. I have raised my concerns with the school in writing and, at the time of this review, have not received a response.

Unfair Scholar termination

I have been with Spark Schools since 2020, however this year Spark Schools accounts department really treated me unfairly. Around February this year, I called the accounts department to try and arrange a debit order mandate , I never got the forms. I then tried to plead with Boitumelo Ngcobo from March to try and spread my missed payments , to which she always rep**** that I needed to settle my outstanding balance before she can so that which never made sense. In July I went to the HQ where I tried to make a payment arrangement, Lerato Masilo was receptive to that arrangement but had to consult with Boitumelo Ngcobo as I have three scholars across Spark. Boitumelo came with an attitude and rejected the arrangement we made and made a different one, I was very irritated I signed it even though it was not possible for me to meet her arrangement plan. On the 13th August I met with Boitumelo at Spark Randburg where we agreed that I would settle my account at the end of September however a week later on the 22 August I was sent 3 termination letters when i called I was told I was unreachable and had no payment arrangement in place. The termination has left me very disappointed at Spark accounts department because I have been trying to spread my payments since March to no avail.

Failure of Duty of Care, Victim-Blaming, and Severe Lack of Supervision at SPARK Weltevreden Park

Failure of Duty of Care, Victim-Blaming, and Severe Lack of Supervision at SPARK Weltevreden Park I am writing this review to warn other parents about the operational and behavioral management failures at SPARK Weltevreden Park. My son has been on the receiving end of ongoing verbal harassment and name-calling from a group of scholars. He followed the school’s recommended process by reporting the behavior directly to his teacher. The teacher failed to step in or address the bullying, leaving my child completely unprotected and forced to endure continuous provocation. Predictably, after tolerating the targeted behavior without any adult intervention, my son eventually reached his breaking point and reacted. Rather than investigating the root cause or addressing the children doing the provoking, SPARK immediately penalised my son by issuing reflection forms. The school’s system consistently turns a blind eye to quiet bullying, yet harshly penalises the victim the moment they stand up for themselves. The lack of supervision on campus reached an alarming safety high when a group of kids ganged up on my son on school grounds. The situation was so completely unmonitored by SPARK staff that an external transport driver had to physically step in on campus to rescue my child. Instead of taking accountability for the complete absence of playground supervision, the school’s focus was to reprimand the driver for intervening. SPARK advertises a culture of safety and restorative core values, but the reality on the ground is a rigid discipline model that penalises victims, ignores early cries for help, and hides behind protocols when staff fail in their basic duty of care. I am now forced to withdraw my child to protect his emotional well-being and physical safety.

Unfair and Disappointing Treatment of My Child- SPARK MIDRAND

Extremely disappointed with Sparks Midrand and how this situation involving my child has been handled. Another learner ripped an armband from Elijah’s arm. Elijah retrieved it, and unfortunately the learner was hurt in the process. There was no intention to hurt anyone, yet Elijah has received a first written warning and is now bearing the brunt of the situation. We have raised concerns over the years that we feel were not handled with the same urgency. Now that the situation is reversed, the response has been completely different. As a parent, I am seriously concerned that there may be a racial element to this difference in treatment. We expected fairness, consistency and for both sides to be properly heard before disciplining our child. I am deeply disappointed.
