SDMS Springfield & Newlands – Poor Customer Service
**SDMS Springfield & Newlands – Poor Customer Service** I purchased a starter motor for my Mitsubishi Colt from SDMS Newlands after Springfield confirmed they had stock. Unfortunately, the starter did not work after fitting, and it was returned for warranty assessment through my mechanic. I was promised feedback by Monday, then again by Wednesday, 21 October. It is now Thursday, 22 October, and I still have no feedback despite repeated follow-ups. I am out of pocket, without a working starter, and extremely frustrated by the lack of communication and accountability. **All I want is a clear answer and a fair resolution.** Customers should not have to chase a business repeatedly for updates on a product they have paid for. I hope SDMS management takes this complaint seriously and resolves the matter urgently.

Warranty voided incorrectly and now silence
Title: Midas Voided My Battery Warranty Despite Normal Charging Test Results — Emails Ignored Complaint: On 25 August 2026, Midas centurion voided my vehicle battery warranty on the grounds that my alternator was allegedly defective. I was required to pay for a replacement battery, but I have serious concerns about whether this decision was technically justified. On 24 August, I accidentally left my vehicle's interior light on, causing the battery to discharge. I had the battery tested and was advised that the battery was discharged, but that the alternator was not the cause of the problem. When Midas centurion tested the vehicle on 25 August, its own report recorded: - Charging voltage, load OFF: 12.19 V — LOW - Charging voltage, load ON: 14.11 V — NORMAL - Diode ripple: 0.23 V — NORMAL The battery itself tested as BAD & REPLACE, which I understand given that it had been severely discharged. However, I was told the alternator was faulty and that my battery warranty was therefore void. I was not provided with a separate alternator diagnostic to substantiate this conclusion. Further testing raised additional concerns: - 25 August — First National Battery: 14.08 V with the engine running. - 27 August — Midas: 14.38 V under load, marked NORMAL, with diode ripple of 0.11 V, also marked NORMAL. - 27 August — First National Battery: 14.72 V. These results do not appear to support the conclusion that the alternator was defective, and Midas has not explained how it reached that conclusion or reconciled it with its own subsequent test results. During my interaction with a Midas centurion technician, I was also told that the store had experienced repeated issues involving this battery and warranty claims. I cannot independently verify the wider claims mentioned to me, but the comments added to my concern about whether my warranty was correctly assessed. I have sent emails requesting an explanation and a review of this decision, but my correspondence has been ignored. Resolution requested: 1. A formal review of the decision to void my battery warranty. 2. A written technical explanation, supported by the test results, for the alleged alternator fault. 3. Reimbur*****t for the replacement battery if Midas cannot substantiate the grounds on which my warranty was voided. 4. A written response from management addressing my complaint. I have retained the relevant test reports and supporting evidence. I am seeking a fair, evidence-based resolution and a response to my correspondence.

Midas Tongaat
The worst terrible service I've encountered in my entire life, don't know if it's because I'm an African female or what, but the guy was speaking in a condescending tone when I enquired about my order, would just leave me at the counter and do his stuff and be on a call, wow. It's appalling we live among such people. The short indian guy with glasses. I felt disrespected and disregarded. Please have a sign at the door if Midas Tongaat only service certain people

Awful and disgusted with the salesman
I went to Vanderbijlpark Midas today with a list of automotive parts to request quotes where I was assisted by Julian R salesperson, who was extremely rude and not helpful at all, and complaining about the way I named the parts on the given list. Saying I was deeply confusing him and making his brain hurt, with one of the parts I wanted to purchase today he simply said they don't have stock rudely, without the intention of ordering or assisting me later on with that part. I am deeply disappointed with this horrible customer service, as an amateur mechanic who sources my parts from Midas. Regards Raymond J Tilstone

Worst customer service ever
I bought a Willard battery from the Midas Branch in Krugersdorp on 09/10/2026 witch is not one of your cheaper batteries but because I have hade good experience with Willard all my years of driving a car I pay more because “Normally” they give a few years of service. That is why they give a 25Month warranty advertised everywhere! I started to have a problem wear my bakkie’s battery was not starting every time and leaving me stranded and always hade to ask someone to jump start me witch is very inbarrising and the on Saturday 26-09-2026 I hade enough when my bakkie once again did not what to start decided to remove the battery and that it back to Midas Krugersdorp wear Alphias the salesman helped me. He tested the battery and stated the battery gives a good reading but just needs a good charge ( I drive my bakkie every day for work so it gets charged every day with my bakkie) witch I staited to him but his said that is the policy and needs to charge on thear charger that was just after 8am on the Saturday morning and that I need to cum back at 1pm then he will give test it again. I then when back at 2pm and Alphias then tested the battery again and gave me a slip and said the battery is 100% he also did a other test ( a load test or something I not know exactly) but said that machine is the one that will 110% say the condition of my battery and once again he said the battery is 100% I then took my battery and left the store that was the Saturday after just after 2pm I did not bother with it because it was already late to work on a car that Saturday afternoon. ( so the batty was in the boot of my car the hole weekend not being used at all)Early the Monday morning I put back the battery in my bakkie explained it to be working 100% because Alphias was then charging it the hole Saturday and testing it with all the machines and said my battery was 100% but once again my bakkie did not start and I hade to jump start my bakkie but it was so flat the after jump starting it for more than 10 minutes on the jumper cables did not whant to start my bakkie !!! I hade to remove my wife’s car battery and put in my bakkie to start and then put bakkie the Willard just for me to get to work that is now 6am in the morning!!! I drove to work and after work on the Monday when I wanted to start my bakkie to go home once again the battery was flat !!! Wearby once again I hade to ask a stranger to assist me to jump start my bakkie with jumper cables again!!!! The next morning same thing battery was dead not starting and same proses again but now in the rain struggling to get my bakkie to start with a battery that is completely dead!!! I then phoned Midas and explained my setiotion because I am working and can not go and sit at Midas every single day. They then stated that this is now my bakkie not charging the battery and need to change my alternator!! The Wednesday morning same thing not starting because of a dead battery!!! I then when to a a shop in Krugersdorp to test my bakkie’s alternator to see if it needs replacing ( Now taking of work because of the staff of Midas telling me that is my problem and not my battery) they tested my bakkies charge and if I am not mistaken was charging 14.6 witch they said was 100% and tested the battery witch was that time less than 6Volt !! The shop said to me they can not give me a proper reading on the battery because the voltage was to low and said I must leave the battery with them to charge 24hours before they can give me a correct reading. I left my battery their and hade to use my wife’s car because now my bakkie was not driving at all ( by this time I am not even sure how many times this battery hade to be jumped or taken out just to get my bakkie to drive ) the following morning I hade to make excuses once again at work because I hade to go and try and get my bakkie sorted . When I got there the company said after being on charge for 24Hours my battery is still flat !!! I then took a video to show Alphias at Midas . I that once again when my back to Midas to show Alphias was a different shop is saying about this battery. He tested it again and said once again his machine is saying battery good needs to charge !!!! I stated to him and showed his the print out from the other store which showed this battery was on charge for 24Hours and still not keeping charge ! He started helping a nother customer and I was standing their and then Ryno or Ruan asked if he can help me , I told him the my hole storry and he started testing the battery and then the machine once again said battery good needs to charge! and show him the slip of the other company and then noticed the print out of the machine ( Tester) of Midas was sowing the date 2003 wear we are on 2026! Ryno/ Ruan then made the date correction on the machine and tested my battery once again! Then the Tests showed my battery is not working!! He then showed Alphias the same tester that he used showing that my battery is now working!! Alphias then started getting angry and very loudly said to Ruan that hi will not take any responsibility for this battery because his hade to pay 4 batteries out of his pocket to Willard because they will not take accountability for thear battery’s and he will never tell a customer again that a Willard battery is faulty!!! Ruan then tested the battery once again in front of Alphias and the tester said my battery is not working and he then tested it on the ( Load tester again) witch now with Ruan said my battery is faulty!!! Ruan the contacts the Rep for Willard and the rep stated once again the battery needs to go on charge for a few hours to get a proper reading again. Once again Alphia stated to Ruan in front of me and other customers he is making a big mistake to say the battery is faulty to me because Willard will NOT accept responsibility and the they will found any excuse no matter what it is to decline an exchange . Buy that time I left the store and a few hours later Ruan gave me a call stating exactly what Alphias said that my battery is completely not working but the exchange is declined because of terminal abuse . And that I must buy a new battery! I am asking you now if Alphias did give me the correct answer on Saturday when I was their the first time and not lying to me because I was afraid to pay for a battery to Willard for what ever reason do you think all of the struggling every single day in / out jumped I don’t even know how many times. I do not think it is fair to me to expect my to pay for a new battery wear if Alphias from Midas Krugersdorp was honest from the start could have prevented any terminal damage or any damage for that case and would be able to drive my own bakkie but because of the dishonesty of the Employee of Midas I must now battle to get to work and bay a new battery! I am extremely disappointed in the way this was handled. Regards Chris Mans
