Warranty voided incorrectly and now silence

Title: Midas Voided My Battery Warranty Despite Normal Charging Test Results — Emails Ignored

Complaint:

On 25 August 2026, Midas centurion voided my vehicle battery warranty on the grounds that my alternator was allegedly defective. I was required to pay for a replacement battery, but I have serious concerns about whether this decision was technically justified.

On 24 August, I accidentally left my vehicle's interior light on, causing the battery to discharge. I had the battery tested and was advised that the battery was discharged, but that the alternator was not the cause of the problem.

When Midas centurion tested the vehicle on 25 August, its own report recorded:

- Charging voltage, load OFF: 12.19 V — LOW - Charging voltage, load ON: 14.11 V — NORMAL - Diode ripple: 0.23 V — NORMAL

The battery itself tested as BAD & REPLACE, which I understand given that it had been severely discharged. However, I was told the alternator was faulty and that my battery warranty was therefore void.

I was not provided with a separate alternator diagnostic to substantiate this conclusion.

Further testing raised additional concerns:

- 25 August — First National Battery: 14.08 V with the engine running. - 27 August — Midas: 14.38 V under load, marked NORMAL, with diode ripple of 0.11 V, also marked NORMAL. - 27 August — First National Battery: 14.72 V.

These results do not appear to support the conclusion that the alternator was defective, and Midas has not explained how it reached that conclusion or reconciled it with its own subsequent test results.

During my interaction with a Midas centurion technician, I was also told that the store had experienced repeated issues involving this battery and warranty claims. I cannot independently verify the wider claims mentioned to me, but the comments added to my concern about whether my warranty was correctly assessed.

I have sent emails requesting an explanation and a review of this decision, but my correspondence has been ignored.

Resolution requested:

1. A formal review of the decision to void my battery warranty. 2. A written technical explanation, supported by the test results, for the alleged alternator fault. 3. Reimbur*****t for the replacement battery if Midas cannot substantiate the grounds on which my warranty was voided. 4. A written response from management addressing my complaint.

I have retained the relevant test reports and supporting evidence. I am seeking a fair, evidence-based resolution and a response to my correspondence.
