Scores reflect the Overall AI Score for each category
Based on recent customer reviews, Saya Recoveries is drawing sustained criticism from consumers handling MTN, SARS, Vodacom, Telkom, Finchoice and municipal accounts. The dominant grievance is settled debts where paid-up letters and credit bureau updates never arrive, leaving customers listed and unable to access credit. Callers report being transferred repeatedly, cut off mid-call and promised call-backs that never come, with specific agents and team leaders named. Others dispute balances, unrecognised debts, unauthorised deductions and garnishee or legal threats. Arrangements are set up quickly, but follow-through and record keeping fall short.

SAYA RECOVERIES HARRASMENT
Dear Saya Recoveries, RE: FORMAL COMPLAINT REGARDING EXCESSIVE PAYMENT REMINDERS AND UNWANTED CONTACT I hereby wish to lodge a formal complaint regarding the repeated emails, SMS messages and telephone calls I receive from your company every month, despite consistently making my agreed payments on time. I have honoured my payment arrangement and continue to do so. There is therefore no reasonable justification for repeatedly contacting me before the end of each month to remind me to make a payment that is not yet overdue. I find this repeated communication unnecessary, intrusive and unacceptable. I am fully aware of my payment obligations and do not require multiple reminders to fulfil an arrangement that I have consistently honoured. I request that Saya Recoveries immediately review its communication practices in respect of my account and cease sending repetitive, premature payment reminders through multiple channels. I understand that debt collectors have a legitimate right to pursue outstanding debts. However, this right must be exercised professionally and within the boundaries of applicable legislation. The Debt Collectors Act 114 of 1998 and the applicable Code of Conduct prohibit excessive harassment and require debt collectors to respect the dignity and civil rights of debtors. Should I fail to make a payment when it is due, I accept that you may contact me regarding the overdue amount. However, I do not accept being subjected to repeated calls, emails and SMS messages before my agreed payment deadline has passed. I therefore request the following: Written confirmation that my payment arrangement and payment history have been reviewed. Immediate cessation of repetitive reminders before my agreed payment due date. Confirmation that your records correctly reflect my payments and that my account is not incorrectly flagged as being in arrears. Confirmation of the steps you will take to prevent this unnecessary communication from continuing. Please treat this email as a formal complaint. Should this conduct continue, I reserve the right to submit a written complaint to the Council for Debt Collectors and any other relevant regulatory body. I expect a written response within 10 business days. I trust that this matter can be resolved without further escalation. You do not have to accept constant pre-payment reminders if you are honoring an agreed payment plan. The law protects you against unfair and overly aggressive collection tactics through several frameworks: • The National Credit Act (NCA): Debt collectors are legally prohibited from threatening, intimidating, or continuously harassing consumers. Debt collection efforts must be reasonable. Continuous automated spamming for an account that is fully up-to-date breaches the spirit of fair collection practices. • The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI Act): Under POPIA, you have the right to object to how your personal information is used for direct communication. If you demand that they stop contacting you via specific channels (like automated text blasts) because your account is compliant, they must respect that boundary. • Debt Collectors Act (Act 114 of 1998): Registered debt collectors are regulated by the Council for Debt Collectors. Their code of conduct strictly forbids conduct that defames, oppresses, or harasses a consumer. Kind regards, Martin Williams

A very stressful and disappointing experience.
My experience with Saya Recoveries has been extremely distressing. I feel harassed, overwhelmed, and completely unheard. Despite numerous communications and my continued efforts to keep up with payments, they seem unwilling to understand my financial situation or consider what I can realistically afford. Instead of working with me to find a manageable solution, I feel that I am constantly being pressured with demands that are simply beyond my means. I have explained my circumstances repeatedly, yet there seems to be no understanding or compassion. The situation has caused me immense stress and has even affected my health. I was told that the Recoveries Department does not have a dedicated consultant assigned to my ***, which makes it even more frustrating to try to resolve matters. Debt recovery should be about finding reasonable solutions, not making people feel harassed and helpless. I have genuinely tried to cooperate, but the lack of understanding and flexibility has left me feeling exhausted and disappointed. I sincerely hope Saya Recoveries reviews the way it treats people who are already struggling financially and starts offering more compassionate, realistic solutions instead of simply making demands.

I'm sure this is a bunch of ******** 1) We act on behalf ofTelkom and we would like to bring to your attention that payment for account *** is currently outstanding. The balance we have on record is R547.39. 2) We act on behalf of Vodacom and our instructions are to demand from you as we hereby do, payment of the sum of R547.39. Telcom account closed about 5 years ago and never had a Vodacom account!! Copies of accounts requested but no response!

My account with Saya Recoveries was settled in full over a month ago
My account with Saya Recoveries was settled in full over a month ago. Every time I follow up with Gugu Sithole, the reason for the delay changes: 1. First told the letter would be ready in a day, then 5-7 working days once payment was passed to FinChoice. 2. Followed up a week later, no update. 3. FinChoice confirmed directly that Saya's pay-over is not required to issue my paid-up letter, since my account is already settled. 4. FinChoice support couldn't assist and tried transferring me to legal , the call went unanswered, same as last time. It's now 30+ days since settlement, with no paid-up letter and no consistent explanation. I have a full record of every call and message. I need this resolved with a written, dated confirmation, not another promise that changes next time I call.
