AI Review Summary

Based on recent customer reviews, Pathcare draws far more criticism for its billing and accounts administration than for its clinical work. Patients report incorrect ICD-10 and test codes causing medical aid rejections, duplicate debits, fresh invoices after paying cash in full on the day, and unanswered queries that escalate quickly to debt collectors such as Blake and Associates. Slow patient portal results and awkward registration add frustration. Positively, phlebotomists like Ena, Wayne and Sergio earn warm praise for calm, reassuring and virtually painless blood draws at depot level.

Extremely annoying. Pathetic accounts department

I had tests done at Pathcare Meyerton. I asked for an invoice at the time and was told it would be mailed. I have since received numerous demands that I pay the bill. I am happy to pay, but I need an invoice in order to know what to pay DUH! No invoice has been forthcoming despite phone calls and ***. One *** reply said that they could not locate an account for me, next day got another demand for payment! JUST DONT USE PATHCARE-less

Poor account administration and customer service

I queried a PathCare account after a blood test was performed based on approval from my ex-wife, who is not a member of my medical aid. Form was not filled in by me, it was not signed at all, yet I'm held responsible for the account. I was told the matter had been escalated to a team leader for investigation. A month passed with absolutely no feedback, despite my query remaining unresolved. Instead of receiving the promised response, I was sent a final demand for payment. PathCare's accounts administration appears completely disconnected from its customer service process. Queries are acknowledged but not resolved, communication is non-existent, and collection action proceeds regardless. Very disappointing experience and poor customer service.

The accounts department is in shambles

Three months ago, my wife and I welcomed our first child, our daughter, into the world. Just two weeks after she was born we had to take her into the ER for some tests (a nightmare, but she is totally happy and healthy now). Some of the tests involved PathCare bloods. Because she was not yet registered on our medical aid, we had to pay out of pocket and then claim this money back. In the flood of medical expenses that follow having a baby and two ER visits, they sent urgent payment requests, pressuring us to take advantage of early payment, etc. We did, and then they billed the medical aid (twice), who paid (twice). These early bills were riddled with errors. Our baby went by three different names (in some cases being charged three times because of this), and there were spelling errors throughout. The entire procedure was billed twice, once as private, once as medical aid, with almost identical amounts. It took 5 attempts to get a bill without the spelling errors, but the bill still seems to have repeated expenses. I send emails but they don't provide any new information, just the same route responses. They send emails, SMS's, threatening legal action for the money we owe them (except in reality, it is possible they owe us, but impossible to be certain). I have requested detail, itemized bills to ensure we are not being double charged, but they have ignored my requests. We have no power against these companies and I am so tired of being exploited for every last cent.

Pro-rata and leave days pay

I was employed by Pathcare and had to resign with immediate effect after getting a better offer to the next company. In my days with Pathcare I still had 10 days vacation leave and worked two weeks before resigning. I was told that I owe the company and was not paid my pro-rata salary. Please help

Pathcare ****mer

PathCare is a serious **** — please be cautious before using their services or those of doctors who refer you to them. In 2023, I visited a doctor and had blood tests done through PathCare. I never received a call or any communication regarding the results of those blood tests. Now, years later, I am suddenly receiving calls from attorneys and debt collectors claiming to be collecting money on behalf of PathCare. I have explained to them that I never received any results or communication from the doctor regarding the blood tests. My question is simple: How am I expected to pay for a service when the results were never communicated to me and I received no follow-up regarding the service? I find this situation extremely concerning and frustrating. Before using PathCare, I strongly recommend that you keep records of all tests, invoices, results, and communication with both the laboratory and the doctor. I am sharing my experience so that others can be aware and make informed decisions.

PathCare Refuses to Resolve Billing Error

PathCare does not seem to care about following the correct procedures. They used incorrect billing codes, and despite the issue being raised, they refuse to correct them. As a result, my medical aid has refused to pay the claim. What is particularly frustrating is that I paid PathCare without any issues, yet they are now refusing to bill the claim correctly. They appear to have little regard for the stress patients are already experiencing due to medical issues, as long as they receive their payment. I have also seen other customers raising similar complaints. I simply expect PathCare to use the correct billing codes and take responsibility for correcting the error.

Pathcare's tech-driven, hands-off approach leaves sour taste

Pathcare swiftly sends exorbitant bills for analysing blood - but then, just as swiftly, forces patients to navigate a bulky, ridiculous online system to access the results. After wasting at least an hour trying to "register", then "log in" and then, horror of horrors, actually "download" my "patient episodes" (why not just call them "files"?), I'm still no nearer being able to read and analyse my tests. And they want me to pay them "within seven days"? Not likely. Give me the product, and then I'll pay for it. Utterly ludicrous.
