Worst Auction House

Absolutely shocking service! You can apend up to 4 hours collecting 1 car! At Auction Operation, i f they have a bad day you will spend 45 minutes! Surely GoBid management can work out a better system. I have a good idea that they are not bothered at all and feels nothing towards you spending 4 hours collecting 1 car! Shocking GoBid

Terrible experience for a first time buyer

Absolutely terrible experience— at Gobid penalised for an accidental bid and completely ignored afterward. Worse I spoke to an investigator who promised to revert to me. Disgusting if you ask me

GOBID'S UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS PRACTICES AND FALSE AND MISLEADING ADVERTI*****TS

Gobid is an Auction Company that lacks integrity, engages in unfair business practices, including publishing misleading information on salvage vehicles that they auction. In brief, they operate as a **** and cannot be trusted when dealing with them. I had two unpleasant and trust eroding encounters with them: 1. After registering and paying the required bidding registration fees with them somewhere in last year December, I joined an online bidding session with them. I did not lock my phone before putting it into my pocket. In the process, I touched the screen and accepted a bid in error. Having realised the error, I immediately phoned the sales team and asked that they should cancel my bid and that it was made in error. The sales team told me that they would do so after the bidding is closed on that item. I also sent them the same cancellation request by email. No bidder offered a higher price above my own and so, Gobid declared me as the winner despite my subsequent cancellation requests. My R5,000 pre-bid deposit was therefore seized as a consequence. 2. In July 2026, I bought a salvage vehicle that GoBid advertised as a "Starter" vehicle amongst other attributes of the vehicle. When the vehicle was delivered on 3 August 2026, we found the car to be a non-starter. I had to hire a tow truck to pull the car off the delivery truck. I subsequently wrote to GoBid detailing the condition of the vehicle and emphasising that their advert misled me into buying a non-starter vehicle as a vehicle that is starting. I therefore requested them to choose any of the two options I offered them for us to resolve the challenge and make the vehicle drivable- i. They should send their own mechanic to go, check, and start the vehicle or ii. They should contribute R15,000 to supplement the cost of diagnosing and fixing the no-starter problem of the car. My projected cost breakdowns are- the towing cost to and back from the nearest Mercedes Benz workshop to do diagnostic test to detect what is preventing the car from starting, the cost of the diagnostic analysis, after-market replacement parts and labour cost of the repairs. Gobid, responded to me with a counter-offer of R5,000 which I rejected. For the sake of a quick resolution of the matter, I sent them an email on 19 August 2026 of my willingness to accept a minimum of R10,000 compensation or else they should send their mechanic to go and start the vehicle at where the vehicle is parked in Pretoria and pay me nothing. On this same day, I requested them in writing to send me an electronic copy of the advert upon which I placed my bid. I sent several reminders thereafter for this information, and they would not respond to me. In conclusion, GoBid comes across as an ************* and an unprofessional business that operates as a ****. Anyone doing business with them does so at his own RISK and I will NEVER do business with them again. I would have scored them a ZERO Star if it were available. I have meanwhile lodged a complaint against them with the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa (MIOSA)

False Advertising

This is the worse place to buy a car. They are ****ming people out of their money. On the 14th of July 2026 we bought a 2018 Ford Focus Ecoboost 1.0t car on Gobid online auction it was stated that the car is a starter. On the 16th of July 2026 we went to collect the car at the Springs branch. The battery that was in the car did not work meaning the car did not start there. Gobid loaded the car on the trailer and we left. When we got home we off load the car. The next morning we started to inspect the car and we noticed it was missing an Alternator. We went Saturday to Welkom to go look for an alternator and some other parts that the car needed. We also had to order a tensioner and tensioner pulley as well as a fan belt. After we put those parts in there was still no luck with the car starting. We then towed the car to a mechanic and told him what was happening on further inspection it was noticed that there was no crank shaft sensor and the timing was out by far. The mechanic ordered a new sensor and put it in he also fixed the timing issue. With still no luck of the car starting. Spark plugs were also changed , the mechanic then asked another guy to come and plug his computer in on the car to see what it shows was the fault. Everything was showing fine on the computer and the guy said it must be a mechanical fault. The mechanic tried to start the car again but this time he tested the compression and noticed that the compression is too low and that means that the engine is blown. The mechanic did write a report for us stating that there is no way the car could have started if there was no crank shaft sensor and when the timing is out as well as the problem with the compression. This is false advertising from their side. Yes you can go look at the car but we are 291km from Gobid Springs and people rely on what they are advertising. We did go and see a lawyer he did send 2 letters to them already and still we haven't heard a word from them. We just want our money back so they can come and collect the car. That was hard earned money that we used to start our business with. I really think Gobid must be investigated. They are ****ming people.

****med by Gobid

To whoever is reading this , think twice before registering with Gobid as ive been ****med by them . Purchased a vehicle on auction and paid for it and before I collected the vehicle i get a call from head office stating that the sale needs to be cancelled due to an error with the insurance company . I was told by a gentleman in investigations that I would be refunded in full in 1 day , however its been a week and I still haven't recieved my money back. They keep transferring my call everytime I call and it gets cut off . My buyer number is CST33456 . Please be warned , based off my experience and emails ive recieved from them , this is definitely a ***** company that shouldn't be trusted

Operating times and attitude

I would like to lodge a formal complaint regarding my experience at your Port Elizabeth branch today. I arrived at approximately 16:00 with the intention of viewing/enquiring about a vehicle. According to the operating hours published online, the branch closes at 17:00. However, when I arrived, I was informed that the branch was already closed. This is extremely frustrating and disappointing, particularly for customers who work during the day and rely on the operating hours published online when planning their visit. I specifically travelled to your premises after work, only to find that the branch had closed earlier than the advertised closing time. What makes the situation even more disappointing is that I had already contacted your branch at approximately 11:00 earlier today to enquire about a vehicle. After being transferred, I was left on hold for approximately 12 minutes. I made the effort to contact your branch in advance, yet I still ended up travelling there later in the day only to find the premises closed. When I expressed my frustration and stated that I would report the matter, I was told that I was threatening your staff. I would like to make it clear that stating that I intend to report a customer-service issue is not a threat. I have every right as a customer to raise a legitimate complaint when I believe I have received poor service or when information published to customers is inaccurate. I therefore request that management investigate: • Why the Port Elizabeth branch was closed at approximately 16:00 despite the advertised closing time of 17:00. • Whether the operating hours published online are accurate and regularly updated. • Why my telephone enquiry was handled in such a manner that I was left on hold for approximately 12 minutes after being transferred. • Why my legitimate complaint was characterised as a threat when I simply stated that I would report the matter. I would appreciate a written response addressing these concerns and clarification of the correct operating hours for the Port Elizabeth branch so that customers are not inconvenienced in the same manner in future.

HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED AT SUCH POOR,*********** AND UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR DISPLAYED BY YOUR EMPLOYEES.

Good day I would like to express my unhappiness with GOBID. I paid a deposit of R5000 (CST15437) with the intention to bid and buy a car. Unfortunately it did not work out. I requested a deposit refund and as per their process,ID ,proof of banking and proof of payment was requested to pay the refund. I submitted all the relevant documents and received a response confirming my refund request and it'll take.3 - 7 days to refund. I waited from the 5th August till today only to find out through one of their competent agent that I made an error when I uploaded documents, then proof of payment was in a screenshot format, which was incorrect and i had to upload PoP in pdf format. I did exactly that today in the morning. The agent advised me to call in the afternoon to follow up to confirm verification. I have been calling *** and I'm sent from pillar to post. I was told by one of the agents that a lady by the name of KGOMOTSO is handling my refund matter. I have called numerous times asking for KGOMOTSO to no luck. They have been deliberately ignoring my calls, i will call and the line will ring non stop until 5pm closing time. I want to say to GOBID I'm very DISAPPOINTED WITH HOW YOUR STAFF TREAT CUSTOMERS!!! THEY DELIBERATELY IGNORED MY CALLS BECAUSE IT WAS CLOSE TO KNOCK OFF TIME.THIS ONE AGENT BOTSHELO TRANSFERRED MY CALL TO KGOMOTSOS EXTENSION AND IT WAS NEVER ANSWERED. ADDING TO MY COMPLAINTS,I CALLED A FEW TIMES AND LEFT MESSAGES FOR KGOMOTSO TO CALL ME BACK. I EVEN LEFT A RECORDED MESSAGE WITH MY CONTACT NUMBER ASKING KGOMOTSO TO CALL ME, SHE NEVER DID. I HOPE GOBID GETS THIS MESSAGE AND DO SOMETHING WITH THE UNPROFESSIONALISM!!
