Poor customer service
I called the call center today and spoke with Candice. She refused to allow a three‑way call between myself, her, and the account holder. After that, she placed me on hold for more than 10 minutes while attempting to reach a team leader.

Easypay Lesaka funeral Plan_ Grievance
On the 7th September 2026 I unfortunately lost a loved one, yet I was comforted with the knowledge that I had taken out a funeral policy with easy pay Lesaka. I had faithfully paid my policy knowing that when the time comes I wouldn't have to struggle with having to bury my loved once whom I have covered under my policy. On the 8th September 2026 once receiving all of the necessary documents regarding my deceased family member such as the death certificate, Notice of death, her ID, ect. I went to the nearest branch in my area which is in Eldorado Park. Having all my documents in order too submit and I've filled out the claims form, on the 8th September 2026 at 15:00, I completed the process and the required documents were submitted at the at the Eldorado Park branch by the SSC who gave me two different reference numbers and assured me that all documents have been sent, she told me to call in to the claims department the next day. On the 9th September 2026, I received an sms at 12:42 stating that my documents have been received however I decided to call the branch to call the claims department as told by the consultant at the branch the day before. I made the call at 12:46 on the 09/09/2026, I spoke to a claims consultant who then told me that there was a missing page from the Notice of death at page was page 3 of 3. I was then told that my 48hrs has already started and that I should send in the outstanding document via their claims email address and their client email address, i was also told that the claim will be payed out by Friday upon approval of the claim. I scanned the documents onto my phone, then emailed it to both email address given to me by the consultant. I went to the branch with all the relievant documents again for the SSC to send the outstanding document and she sent it which she gave me another reference number. On the 10th September 2026 I called the claim department once again at 12:40 to find out how far the process of the claim is I was told that the claim is still under review and that once they have reviewed it I will receive an sms by the end of the work day, I accept it and asked when will the payout to the claim will happen, I was told that they cannot tell me when however I should wait for the sms, No SMS was sent and there was no communication to me or anything of the sort. On the 11th September 2026 I called into the claims department at 9:57 to find out about the claim, I was then told that my claim is still under review a rush of panic and fear filled my gut because I am unemployed, I collect a SASA grant and I am have to pay and buy so many things because the funeral is on the 13th September 2026. I than decided to call the complaints department 12:22 because at this point I have not received communication or feedback with regards to my claim. I spoke to a consultant who then transferred me to the claims department where I spoke to a consultant who I had spoke to before concerning my claim. I told her that I would like to state a complain because I have gone about the correct procedure and there has been no communication and that I need to bury my loved one on Sunday and I do not have the funds to do so because easy pay Lesaka is with holding information from me and that I have been a loyal customer. That is when she took down my ID number and said she would put me on hold so that she could see how far the process is. I waited on hold for a minute of so that's when the consultant told me that my policy claim has been approved and that I would receive an sms with my confirming payment of funds into my account or an sms confirming that the process is under way, she assured me that it would take until end of the working day (11/09/2026) for me to receive the payment or an sms, she said that if not payment an sms. An sms has still not been sent and no other communications have come through. It is 12th September 2026 time 03:35, I am anxiously and worried that I will not be able to pay for the rest of the funeral preparations. I have waited 4days, I've spoken to 7 or 8 different consultants with different notions of what is important information to share with me, in this time of bereavement. I've been told many half truths and still no communication with regards to payment. I need help because as 35year old woman who has an entire family depending on me for the funeral to proceed. I find it unfair that at this current point in time my waiting period has been more then 48hrs, with no and that the easy pay Lesaka funeral policy claims are disappointing and disheartening because all I want to do is bury my Aunt in peace. Taking out a funeral policy is meant to make this time of bereavement easier because I have paid and legally I have submitted all of my documents accordingly. It is easy pay Lesaka job now to pay out according to the finacial contract we have together. I am burying my loved one within the next 24hrs and we still have many financial decisions to make.

Declined claim
I have had a policy with them for over 10years. Had no correspondence from them ever, went to the offices a few time to enquire but was told to call. My son passed away in the 11August 2026, went to claim and got to he was removed when he was 21. I asked if I shouldn't have been informed when he was removed or contacted regarding it but was just told that is how they work, even after supporting them for 10years. I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend anyone to make use of there insurance. Till date I still haven't received a notification that the claim was declined I had to call and they told me.

Poor Customer Service and Safety Concerns at Lesaka Bara Branch
I would like to raise a formal complaint regarding the service my sister and I received at the Lesaka branch in Bara on 7 August 2026. My sister had visited the branch because her EasyPay card had been retained by an ATM and she needed a replacement card. At the same time, I had a pending card change for my SASSA card, so we went to the branch together. As soon as we entered and sat down, a staff member who was working at Teller 2 walked towards the exit. Another customer politely tried to ask him a question, and he responded very rudely, saying, "Don't come to me, you can see I'm going out." His tone was disrespectful and completely unprofessional. I commented that if he had spoken to me like that, I would not have accepted it. He then returned and addressed everyone in the waiting area in a rude manner, stating that no phones were allowed, and that if he saw anyone using a phone, replying to WhatsApp messages, or answering a call, he would chase them out. He also approached a lady who was drinking water and instructed her not to drink inside the branch. I believe that if there are rules such as no phones or no drinking water, they should be clearly displayed at the entrance before customers enter. This branch serves many elderly people, mothers with young children, and people who may have medical conditions or simply need to drink water while waiting. Enforcing such rules without any visible notice and doing so in such an aggressive manner is unacceptable. While waiting, I noticed another incident where an elderly lady entered and sat down. The same staff member immediately approached her and told her to leave the branch until she had finished using her phone. She and the other ladies were visibly confused because they had only just arrived and had not caused any disturbance. My biggest concern, however, is the safety of customers at this branch. I noticed that there appear to be no visible security cameras inside the branch and no security officer at the entrance. While we were waiting, a man entered wearing a mask that completely covered his face. He approached one of the consultants to ask about loan requirements. While speaking to the consultant, he walked behind me and began taking pamphlets from the consultant's desk without asking permission. The consultant questioned why he was taking items from the desk, but the man simply walked away. The consultant himself appeared concerned and uncomfortable about the situation. This incident highlighted what I believe are serious security risks for both customers and staff. Without visible CCTV cameras or security personnel controlling access to the branch, customers may not feel safe. I am therefore requesting that Lesaka investigate the following: The rude and unprofessional behaviour of the staff member working at Teller 2. The manner in which customers are spoken to and treated. The lack of clear signage regarding branch rules. The apparent absence of security personnel and visible CCTV cameras. The overall safety of customers and employees at the Bara branch. Customers deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. I hope this complaint is taken seriously and that appropriate action is taken to improve both customer service and security at this branch.

********* Service
To All South Africans, Easypay Everywhere Management, and African Bank, I am lodging this complaint publicly because what is happening at certain Easypay Everywhere branches, particularly in KwaZulu-Natal, is deeply concerning and requires urgent national attention. We have received numerous complaints from clients regarding alleged ********* and potentially *****ulent activities taking place at Easypay Everywhere branches in Hill Street Pinetown, Durban CBD, Pietermaritzburg, Port Shepstone, Vryheid, and Nquthu. These reports suggest that vulnerable and financially desperate people are being exploited instead of assisted. There are also serious allegations that some managers at these branches are aware of and involved in these activities. One shocking incident involved a client who visited the branch simply requesting a copy of a transaction statement and was refused assistance. This alone reflects extremely poor customer service from a company trusted by many South Africans. More alarming, however, are the repeated allegations from several clients claiming that: • Customers are being charged R50 just to print statements. • Certain staff members allegedly encourage clients to dispute legitimate debit orders. • After the disputes are processed, staff allegedly take a portion of the money for themselves under the excuse that they have “made a plan” for the client. • These actions leave clients behind on their financial obligations and create serious financial hardship. • Managers at some branches are allegedly aware of these practices and failing to stop them. If these allegations are true, then this is not just poor service — it is *********, exploitative, and potentially ******** behaviour. What is even more disturbing is that reports have allegedly already been made, yet nothing meaningful appears to have been done. This creates the impression that Easypay Everywhere is either ignoring the issue or failing to properly protect its customers. South Africans deserve transparency, honesty, and protection when dealing with financial service providers. Many people using Easypay Everywhere services are pensioners, grant recipients, and low-income earners who are already financially vulnerable. They should not be manipulated or exploited by individuals entrusted to assist them. Easypay Everywhere is now part of African Bank, and therefore African Bank must urgently take responsibility and intervene in these serious allegations. African Bank cannot allow ********* conduct and possible exploitation of vulnerable customers to continue under its brand and ownership. I call on Easypay Everywhere management and African Bank to: • Urgently investigate the Hill Street Pinetown, Durban CBD, Pietermaritzburg, Port Shepstone, Vryheid, and Nquthu branches. • Investigate allegations involving branch managers and staff members. • Audit staff conduct and transaction activities. • Take disciplinary and legal action where necessary. • Publicly reassure customers that this behaviour will not be tolerated. • Strengthen protections for vulnerable clients across all branches, especially in KZN where these complaints appear to be increasing. This matter is severe and deserves immediate intervention before more South Africans suffer financial damage. Consumers cannot continue being ****** while companies remain silent. #EasypayEverywhere #AfricanBank #HelloPeter #ConsumerRights #SouthAfrica #KZN #FinancialAbuse
