Toyota Financial Services (TFS)
Based on recent customer reviews, Toyota Financial Services (TFS) is described by most customers as unresponsive once an account is active. Recurring complaints involve emails and call centre lines going unanswered, calls dropping after the IVR, and requests for settlement figures, paid-up letters, NaTIS documents and cross-border letters dragging on for months. Customers also dispute escalation interest, early settlement penalties, unallocated payments, incorrect debit dates and the handling of deceased estates, credit life and GAP claims. A small group praised smooth settlements and quick delivery of ownership documents.

On Friday Ahley Stone committed to get someone to contact me from the department dealing with the particular issue I have. Still waiting I have left three message for the CEO Thabo Manaka, still waiting for a response. Obviosly he is too busy to deal with pesky customers. You only understand the true worth of a company when something goes wrong. Only then do you understand whether it was the correct choice to enter into a contract with this business.

TFS has no concept of customer service. They do have one strength, which is pushing you from one person to another without anyone accepting responsibilty. After five month of trying to get TFS to transfer a vehicle finance from one company, they have failed. Each email taks on average two weeks to respond to. The CEO is far to important to interact with a lowly customer to understand how shocking the company is that he works for. Once you ahve signed your life away to TFS you mean nothing to them, just a money machine for then to milk. I expected better from Toyota.

Don't even bother taking GAPP cover or insuring your vehicle with them. They make up all sort of hidden costs when you have to claim. My father passed away and had Credit Life Insurance and GAPP cover. Eventually TFS got lawers and threatened my grieving mother to pay them money that was actually supposed to be covered by the GAPP cover. When we involved the ombudsman, TFS said the money owed was for delivery of the vehicle and all sorts of other stuff that was not mentioned when they threatened my mother. Long story short, my mother sits with a whole lot of debt now and TFS is smiling because my father paid all these extra Insurance costs for 4 years while driving the vehicle. Poor service from TFS.

Subject: Formal Complaint: Escalation Interest Charged on Account *** Good day, I am writing to formally dispute the charging of “escalation interest” on my account (Account Number: ***), as reflected on my statement for the period 01 May 2026 to 31 May 2026. Despite making payments on my account, including an upfront payment of R20,000, I note that an amount of R1,222.05 was charged as escalation interest during May 2026. This charge is not clearly explained on my statement, nor has its contractual basis been adequately justified. While I acknowledge your explanation that the amortisation schedule is a projection and that the statement reflects actual transactions, this does not address the following critical concerns: 1. The contractual basis for charging escalation interest 2. The specific trigger that resulted in escalation interest being app**** in May 2026 3. Whether escalation interest forms part of the original amortisation schedule 4. How the escalation interest amount of R1,222.05 was calculated In terms of the National Credit Act, any interest or additional charges must: * Be expressly provided for in the credit agreement * Be app**** in accordance with disclosed terms * Be transparent and capable of verification At present, I have not been provided with sufficient information to confirm that the escalation interest charged complies with these requirements. I therefore formally request the following: 1. A copy of the original amortisation schedule applicable to my agreement 2. The exact clause in my credit agreement that permits escalation interest 3. A detailed calculation showing how the escalation interest charged in May 2026 was derived Pending receipt of the above information, I reserve my right to escalate this matter to the National Credit Regulator (NCR) or the Credit Ombud should the charge be found to be unjustified. I trust that this matter will receive your urgent attention and that a full written response will be provided.
