Based on recent customer reviews, Techsured is drawing sustained criticism from policyholders on its device and home cover. Customers report claims declined under loss, mysterious circumstances and waiting period clauses they say were never disclosed at sale, plus excess deductions that swallow much of the payout. Many describe weeks without acknowledgement, unanswered emails, dropped call centre calls and named consultants and supervisors who never follow up. Cancellations, continued debits and unpaid refunds cause further anger, with several reviewers escalating to Guardrisk, the FAIS Ombud or the National Financial Ombud.

Worse claims experience
I have had the worst claims experience ever after 5 years of being with this company. I have a damaged phone and they referred me to s service provider for an assessment, I took the phone for assessment on 1st September 2026 and then sent the required documents only for them to tell me on the 2nd October that I needed to send another ID copy that is certified, I sent it the same day, only to receive feedback the following day to same the claim will be assessed and this will take 7-14 working days. The problem with this is that I was told that on the 25th September already and assured that the claim was escalated, but clearly that was not true.

Terrible customer service.
Policy number *** I tried calling the call centre, the call dropped multiple times and after being on hold for over 10 minutes the call drops again. I call back and the automated voice says that they are closed… it’s 12 o’clock on a Friday afternoon. I’d like to cancel my policy since they overcharged me and I’ve taken out a policy elsewhere but they are making it extremely difficult.

PATHECTI REJECTION
*** POLICY NUMBER VLM-***9-2 I LOST MY PHONE IN TAXI COMING BACK HOME I SUBMMITED A CLAIM. MY CLAIM WAS REJECTED BASED ON THAT I LOST THE PHONE. THE REASON FOR THE REJECTION IS THAT , there was no force or threat of force when the incident occurred, and the loss occurred under mysterious circumstances. I AM NOT SURE IF WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ****** AND STABBED FOR THE LOSS TO BE COVERED.

Delayed refund
My policy was cancelled on July the 6th and I called about 2 times to ask why I haven’t received a refund that they had promised I’ll get it after 3-7 business days. Today is July 27th and they are telling me I should still wait the refund wasn’t processed. After calling twice the third time I am told the refund wasn’t processed? Y’all are terrible and you did not do any run around when debiting my account yet refund takes you guys the whole year.

PROFESSIONAL *****STERS
WORST INSURANCE EVER DO NOT JOIN. I lost my phone and in a crowded soccer event and when I reported they tell me of a disclaimer that the lost should have been forceful. When has a lost ever been FORCEFUL? A lost can be in an uber should I now lie about the lost which will be *****ulent. So I advise anyone wanting to join to just choose something else

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER
I am extremely disappointed with how my phone insurance claim has been handled, both in terms of the unfair rejection and the complete lack of service thereafter. When I took out this policy, I was informed that it covers loss of a device. At no stage was it clearly explained that loss must involve force, theft, or violence, and after reviewing the policy document, I cannot find any clause that explicitly supports this requirement. Claim Background • My phone was lost, and I only realised this the following day • I immediately took responsible steps to block the device and replace the SIM card • When logging the claim, I was asked what may have happened, and I indicated that it may have fallen when I got out of my car • This was simply an assumption, not a confirmed event, and there are multiple possible scenarios for the loss Despite this, my claim was rejected on the basis of: “No evidence of force used” This reasoning is inconsistent with a policy that claims to cover loss, as not all losses involve force. Regulatory Concerns (FAIS & CPA) This matter also raises concerns under the FAIS Act and the Consumer Protection Act (CPA): • In terms of FAIS, financial service providers are required to act fairly, with due care, and in the interests of the client, including providing clear and accurate disclosure of policy terms • The CPA requires that services and agreements must be fair, reasonable, and transparent, and that consumers are not misled about the nature or coverage of a product Based on the above: • The requirement of “force” was never clearly disclosed • The rejection appears to be based on unclear or undisclosed terms, which is unfair Additionally, I was informed that I have 90 days to dispute the rejection, however: • This has been impossible to exercise, as I have never received the formal rejection letter needed to properly lodge the dispute Serious Service Failures The service I have received has been extremely poor and unacceptable: • At the time of logging my claim, I provided an alternative contact number for communication • Despite this, I am repeatedly told that the assessor attempted to contact me, yet: o I have no missed calls on my alternative number o I have not received any emails beyond the initial claim acknowledgement • The last email I received was simply confirming that my claim had been logged • I was promised a formal rejection letter, but to date (since February), I have received nothing • I have made multiple follow-ups, and each time I am told: o The consultant cannot resend the communication o They will request the assessor to resend it, which never happens This is a clear failure in communication, process, and accountability. Key Concerns • Unfair claim rejection based on unclear or undisclosed criteria • Failure to provide mandatory documentation (rejection letter) • Denial of my right to dispute within the 90-day window • Ongoing lack of communication despite multiple follow-ups • Failure to use the correct contact details provided Resolution Requested I am requesting the following: 1. Immediate reopening and fair reassessment of my claim 2. A clear policy-based explanation of where it is stated that loss must involve force 3. Immediate provision of the formal rejection letter and all related communication 4. Settlement of my claim, as the loss was genuine and reported in good faith If this matter is not resolved urgently, I will escalate it further to the FAIS Ombud and other relevant regulatory bodies, as I believe this case reflects both an unfair outcome and non-compliance with regulatory standards. This entire experience has been extremely frustrating, and I expect a prompt and fair resolution.

Pathetic Insurance and leadership
I am extremely dissatisfied with the unacceptable and unprofessional service I have received from Techsured / Viva Cover regarding my claim, which has now been pending for well over four weeks. Throughout this process, I have received little to no proactive communication. Updates are only provided when I personally follow up via phone calls or emails, and even then, responses typically take between 3–5 working days. This level of service is completely unacceptable, especially considering that all the necessary documentation and information were submitted promptly from my side. What is even more frustrating is the constant change in explanations and feedback provided by your staff, leaving me with no confidence that my claim is being handled competently or honestly. The lack of accountability, urgency, and professionalism displayed by Given Sebesho, Clarence, their supervisor Bandile Mabuza, as well as Jivashan Patcer and Llewellyn Van Wyk, has been deeply disappointing. As a paying client, I expected a far higher standard of service and communication. Instead, I have experienced unnecessary delays, poor customer service, and a complete disregard for the inconvenience and stress this situation has caused. I request that this matter be escalated urgently and that my claim be resolved without any further delays.
