MIBFA – Unacceptable Delay in Processing Claims
I submitted my provident fund claim on 11 August 2026. Today is 24 August, and my claim has still not even been allocated or processed. I have phoned several times and keep receiving the same answer: “Your claim has not been allocated yet.” Today I was even told that I don’t have a profile. How can it take almost two weeks just to allocate a claim? And with no manager or senior contact details available, am I simply expected to sit and hope that someone eventually processes it? This is completely unacceptable. The longer MIBFA takes, the longer I have to wait for my funds, and the claim still has to go through SARS afterwards. MIBFA, please explain: HOW LONG must a member wait for their claim to even be processed?

Worst case scenario with MIBFA handling our death benefits claim
Hello Peter. My husband passed away 8 months ago. I had a worst case scenario with MIBFA since I admitted my late husband death benefits claim 4 March 2026 . He was our breadwinner and we only lived on his income monthly .A case worker Mandisa phones me and my son in April to asked information about a sibling and a close friend contact details. That was it 6 months almost 7 months ago no update or fallow-up on this death benefits claim. I wrote 2 emails 3June 2026 to Mandisa no response and 30 June 2026 to MIBFA death benefits no response again. On 13 July I went to the branch in Cape Town. Mr Meiring at the front desk informed me that Mandisa don't handle the file anymore but it's transfer to a nother staff members name Sue and is now treated as complete new application Stalling a death benefits claim for more than 6 months almost 7 months resetting the process due to internal staff changes continues severe maladministation and failure of your fiduciary duties. I know about the section 37 C where MIBFA must investigate if theres other beneficiaries . But my son and I are the only beneficiaries of this death benefits claim. The facts here is they did nothing until this day. MIBFA staff used section 37 C for unessarry delays and maladministation negligence and failed us.We facing severe humanitarian escalation , financial hardship and to sucure our home that's why we need this funds urgently . That management finalize this death benefits claim on urgent humanitarian grounds . I wrote a last emall 11 August 2026 and demand that a manger or supervisor contact me in 5 days. For more than 6 months we waited pasiently and now that time is just wiped out in flash. MIBFA staff can really treat clients that apply for death benefits with more dignity and understanding they still in moarn about the love one they lost and that some people urgently need the funds for servival . That's was my worst experience with a business ever. MIBFA just give me runarounds and failed us to give a clear update on the process of my application.

Poor Service and Unacceptable Delays in Processing a Claim for Alexander Family
Subject: Poor Service and Unacceptable Delays in Processing a Claim for Alexander Family I am writing to express my disappointment with the poor service we have received. While your company assists many people, the standard of service in our case has declined significantly. Our family submitted a claim for a payout in November 2025, and to date the matter remains unresolved. We continue to receive requests for additional documentation, despite our attorney submitting all the required paperwork. The timeline of events is as follows: 10 March 2026: We were informed that all documentation had been received, the claim was finalised, and payment would be made within 6–8 weeks. End of April 2026: We were unexpectedly asked to provide an executor's letter. 10 June 2026: We were requested to submit the deceased wife's death certificate, which was provided immediately. 12 June 2026: Our attorney was informed that your office was waiting for a SARS clearance certificate and that the process had to be completed manually because the electronic system was not working. Can it really take more than three weeks to obtain a SARS clearance certificate before payment can be processed? To make matters worse, the family lives approximately four hours from Gauteng. Every time new documentation is requested, they are forced to travel long distances at considerable expense. This places an unnecessary financial and emotional burden on a family that is already dealing with the loss of a loved one. We respectfully request an explanation for these ongoing delays, as well as a clear indication of what is still outstanding and when we can realistically expect the payment to be made. We trust that this matter will now receive your urgent attention and be resolved without any further unnecessary delays.
