Unacceptable customer service at Edgars Centurion mall
Unacceptable customer service I received at Edgars Centurion Mall and to request urgent intervention regarding a perfume purchase. In September, I purchased a Bvlgari refill perfume for approximately R3,000. I later discovered that my existing Bvlgari bottle, also purchased from Edgars, is not refillable, rendering the product unusable. The item remains unopened and in its original packaging. When I attempted to return it, I was advised that a receipt was required. Despite being told the receipt might be traceable, I was later informed it could not be located and that my only options were an exchange or store voucher. I requested that the amount instead be credited to my *** account. The matter was escalated to the supervisor, Nomvula, who was dismissive and unhelpful. Most concerning is that no employee requested my *** card or attempted to verify the purchase through my account history. I request that this matter be investigated and the purchase amount credited to my account.

FORMAL COMPLAINT REGARDING FAILURE TO HONOUR THE DISPLAYED PRICE OF AN ITEM
FORMAL COMPLAINT REGARDING FAILURE TO HONOUR THE DISPLAYED PRICE OF AN ITEM On 10 October 2026, I visited your Edgars store in Canal Walk and noticed that an item was displayed at a price of R99 When I attempted to purchase the item at the displayed price, I was informed that the store would not honour that price and that I would instead be required to pay a higher amount. I find this unacceptable, as consumers should be entitled to rely on prices displayed by retailers, subject to the applicable provisions of the law. I asked for the manager and both the sales assistant and manager (Vee) would not honour the price, told me that the price does not correspond with the code and that they need to check another item. I brought them 3 of this particular item, all marked for R99 and they still refused to honour the price. This is unacceptable and against the Consumer Protection Act and I therefore refused to pay the higher price and did not purchase the item. Section 23(6) of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) provides that, subject to the exceptions set out in the Act, a supplier may not require a consumer to pay more than the displayed price for goods or services. Where multiple prices are displayed concurrently, the Act generally requires the supplier to apply the lowest displayed price. I therefore request that your store investigate this incident and take the appropriate corrective action. Specifically, I request that you: 1. Provide a written explanation for the refusal to honour the displayed price. 2. Confirm what steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in future. I trust that your store takes its obligations under South African consumer protection legislation seriously and is committed to fair and transparent dealings with its customers.

EDGARS CASE #***: ***** REPORTED IN MARCH, THREE SIGNATURE SPECIMENS SUBMITTED, REGULATORS AND OMBUDSMAN INVOLVED — YET I AM STILL
I am writing this review to express my profound dissatisfaction with Edgars and its handling of a ********** account opened in my name without my knowledge or consent. Edgars Case Number: #*** This matter has been ongoing since March. Despite countless follow-ups, an affidavit, supporting documentation, three requested signature specimens, and escalation to the relevant regulatory bodies and Ombudsman, I am still without a satisfactory resolution. To make matters worse, I continue to face threats of blacklisting and referral to debt collectors over an account I have consistently disputed. Let me be clear: this is not a billing or payment dispute. It is a case of suspected identity ***** involving an account that I maintain I did not open or authorise. I reported the matter to Edgars and submitted an affidavit and supporting documentation confirming that I did not open or authorise the account. I explicitly informed Edgars that the signatures appearing on the account documentation are not mine. Furthermore, Edgars requested three signature specimens from me for verification, and I submitted all three as requested. I have cooperated with the company's verification process and provided the information requested to assist with its investigation. Despite my cooperation, the matter remains unresolved. What exactly is Edgars doing with the evidence and documentation I have submitted? One would reasonably expect a company to investigate a ***** complaint thoroughly when a customer disputes the signatures, submits an affidavit, and provides all three requested signature specimens. Instead, I have spent months chasing answers and trying to obtain meaningful assistance. The situation has become even more concerning because I have been referred to debt-collection attorneys and continue to face threats of blacklisting over this disputed account. This is happening despite Edgars being aware of my ***** complaint and my explicit denial that I opened or authorised the account. The potential consequences of adverse credit reporting are serious. Yet I am left dealing with the stress and uncer*****y of potentially being held financially responsible for an account I have disputed, while struggling to obtain basic answers. When my repeated attempts to resolve the matter directly with Edgars failed to produce a satisfactory outcome, I escalated the complaint to the relevant regulatory bodies and Ombudsman. I should not have had to resort to external intervention simply to seek accountability and a proper investigation. My formal complaint raised concerns about: The apparent failure to adequately verify the identity of the person who opened the account. The lack of resolution after I submitted an affidavit, supporting documentation, and the requested signature specimens. The referral of the disputed account to debt-collection attorneys while the ***** complaint remains unresolved. The failure to provide the documentation needed to understand how the account was opened and approved. I have requested a copy of the original signed credit agreement, details of the identity verification process followed when the account was opened, and all supporting documentation used to approve the account. I am still seeking a satisfactory response to these requests. For clarity, this complaint relates to Edgars Case #***. The most disappointing aspect of this experience is the apparent lack of urgency, transparency, accountability, and meaningful customer support. Since March, I have followed up countless times, cooperated with requests for verification, and escalated the matter externally, yet I am still fighting for a resolution. I should not have to spend months defending myself against an account I did not open, repeatedly challenge signatures that are not mine, and involve regulators and an Ombudsman while continuing to face threats of blacklisting and debt collection. I am calling on Edgars to: Conduct a proper investigation into how the account was opened and how the applicant's identity was verified. Investigate the disputed signatures, taking into account all three signature specimens I submitted. Provide the original signed credit agreement, identity verification records, and supporting documentation used to approve the account. Explain in writing the findings of the investigation and the basis on which the account was attributed to me. Confirm in writing how collection activity and adverse credit reporting will be handled while the dispute is investigated, and address any inaccurate reporting that may already have occurred. Resolve this matter without further unnecessary delays and provide a clear written outcome. I am sharing this experience publicly because consumers deserve transparency and accountability when reporting suspected identity *****. No consumer should have to feel abandoned while facing potential financial consequences over an account they have formally disputed. Edgars, I have done my part. I reported the matter, submitted an affidavit and supporting documentation, provided all three requested signature specimens, followed up countless times, requested the relevant account records, and escalated the complaint to the regulators and Ombudsman. Why, under Case #***, am I still facing threats of blacklisting and debt collection instead of receiving a transparent investigation and a meaningful resolution? I expect accountability, proper communication, the requested documentation, and a satisfactory written outcome. This matter has been ongoing since March. It is time for Edgars to take it seriously and resolve it.
