GAMING MONITOR- ONE- YEAR-WARRANTY MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Absolutely disgusted. Dont listen to their "1 year warranty" , means nothing. They say its only for manufacturing faults which is exactly what my gaming monitor had. i paid R5000 for my monitor, sent it in under warranty as the screen did popping sounds and tore. They kept the monitor for nearly 20 days or more just to tell me, the warranty doesnt cover this repair and i will need to pay R7000 to repair it or R250 rejection fee. ive spent over 15k at this place, guess that is my fault as they would say. This place is a **** to generate more money out of you. Terrible service and they dont care about customers. If you are looking for trustworthy and CARING suppliers, go to Wootware for monitors!

Defective Lenovo Laptop

On the 30th of June 2026 I took my laptop (still under guarantee) back to Computer Mania in Somerset West mall (Rep no 28566). On 3 July 2026 they transferred to laptop to the supplier (Lenovo). On 8 July 2026 back to Computer Mania. On 22 July 2026 back to Lenovo for a part with ETA of 14 working days. Apparently fixed the problem. On 30 August 2026 I took it back to Computer Mania (same problem/ rep no 31807). On 3 September 2026 it was send back to Lenovo. After numerous phone calls I do not get any feedback. Today 15 September 2026 I phoned 3 times. After which I received an email from Ruan stating that they will replace the camera kit with a ETA of 8 weeks. This is already 3.5 months another 8 weeks will make it in the area of 6 months. This is unacceptable and against the Consumer Protection Act (Section 56) for unreasonable time. I have never experienced this service. I want a full refund or a new unit equivalent of the current specifications.

Around 5 months without my laptop after taking it in for a hinge repair

**Around 5 months without my laptop after taking it in for a hinge repair** I am posting this review regarding my ongoing experience with **Computer Mania Cresta** and Repair No. 17406. I originally approached the store regarding an issue with the hinge/chassis on my MSI PS63. In my initial correspondence, I was told that the hinges themselves were still intact and that the repair centre would fix the issue and put the unit back into place. I was initially given an estimated turnaround time of approximately one week. The laptop was subsequently booked in during March. On 23 March I received an automated notification stating that my repair had been completed and that the laptop was ready for collection. Unfortunately, the matter did not end there. Over the following months I received repeated updates regarding additional work, replacement parts, suppliers, delays and changing ETAs. What was initially expected to take approximately one week eventually turned into several months. On 21 July I was then informed by a Computer Mania representative that the supplier had replaced a chip but that it appeared the **entire motherboard might now be dead**. This is the part of the experience that concerns me most. The laptop was originally handed in because of a physical hinge/chassis problem. It was not handed in with a dead motherboard. I have subsequently been offered replacement laptops by Computer Mania. The initial options did not, in my view, appropriately replace the performance capabilities of the MSI PS63, particularly regarding dedicated graphics. To their credit, Computer Mania has continued engaging with me and has now sourced more appropriate second-hand options, including a Dell G15 with a Ryzen 5 5600H, 16GB RAM and RTX 3050 4GB, as well as an ASUS TUF F15 with an 11th-generation i5, 16GB RAM and RTX 3050. However, I have now also been informed that the proposed Dell G15 has only **65% battery health**. Considering that this replacement is being offered because my original laptop became non-functional during an extraordinarily prolonged repair process, I do not think it is unreasonable for me to expect the replacement to be in good overall condition, have acceptable battery health and carry a meaningful written warranty. At the time of writing, I have **not yet considered the matter resolved** and am awaiting further feedback from Computer Mania. I have retained the relevant emails, WhatsApp conversations and repair correspondence documenting the timeline. I would like Computer Mania to resolve this by providing a replacement that is reasonably appropriate in specification **and condition**, with suitable warranty protection. I will update this review once I receive their final response and will gladly acknowledge it publicly if Computer Mania ultimately resolves the matter fairly. At present, however, going from an approximately one-week hinge repair to being without my laptop for around five months and ultimately being informed that the motherboard is dead has been an extremely disappointing experience.

Repair booked, discrepancy over technician’s identity, and technical findings changed four times

I booked my PC in at Computer Mania Canal Walk for diagnosis after it wouldn’t display post-assembly. On drop-off (Saturday, 01/08/2026), I was told by the person assisting me that the technician was only in Monday–Friday and wasn’t there that day. It was only later, when management referred to me having “booked the PC in with the technician,” that I realised this didn’t add up — I had been told directly that the technician wasn’t even in that day. Over the following three days, I received four separate written explanations of the fault, each one changing from the last: 1. First: fault “appears to be” CPU, RAM, or motherboard — undetermined, no compatible parts available to isolate it. 2. Second: same conclusion, but now stating the BIOS “was updated” as a completed step. 3. Third (from management): repeated “BIOS was updated,” alongside a claim the technician had “confirmed” the hardware fault — despite the same email also calling it only a “suspected” fault. 4. Fourth: introduced, for the first time, a claim that one RAM module “was not seated correctly” on intake and “may have caused an electrical short or damage to the motherboard” — and reworded the BIOS update from “updated” to “attempting… (unsuccessful).” This last change came only after I pointed out, with the manufacturer’s own documented Q-Flash timing, that their stated process didn’t add up. What stood out most is that this 4th email was framed as a new finding — yet by the time it was sent, my PC was no longer even at their store; it was already with Wootware. There was no way for them to have performed any new inspection or found any new evidence at that point. I had also specifically asked for written confirmation of what I’d been told verbally when I collected the PC — that assembly was correct and no customer-caused damage was found. Instead of confirming that, this is where the RAM-damage theory appeared for the first time. I have video of the PC taken before drop-off showing the RAM undamaged, seated evenly, and functioning normally (RGB active, system powering on) — this predates any handling by Computer Mania. I raised all of this in writing, including the discrepancy over who I actually dealt with at drop-off, and it went unanswered. I was ultimately offered a full refund of the diagnostic fee, which I’ve accepted. This review isn’t about the money — it’s about the pattern: verbal assurances not matching written follow-up, and technical explanations that changed specifically in response to being questioned, rather than as a result of any new inspection.

Careless

Sent me a ***ed up box because of the bubble wrap the wrapped it in. When you're sending expensive items put the box in something more protective. I have every right to send the product back

Computer Mania Somerset Mall branch - laptop

Somerset Mall branch. Ruan needs to up his game at this branch. Their customer support is really lacking and does not reflect well for Computer Mania. I brought in a laptop on the 2nd of June 2026. They stated nothing is wrong and gave it back., 2 days later I returned it for the same problem. They send it to their head office. HO returned it to the branch which I collected. Wasn't working at all. Phoned them and eventually they came back stating the HO should have send it to the supplier as it was faulty. Took it back again on the 22nd June. It was only send to supplier on the 29th June. On the 28th July I was informed that the laptop has been repaired and will be in the 28th or 29th. I phoned again at the end of day the 29th to find out where the laptop is. I asked the branch to come back to me where the laptop it. Still nothing and still waiting.
