Documented factual inconsistency in credit return investigation — evidence ignored for weeks
I run a corporate catering business in Johannesburg and have used Bark.com to purchase leads for over a year. I'm leaving this review reluctantly, after an extended and unresolved dispute over several credit return requests. The most serious issue involves a lead purchased on 30 August 2026 at 14:28–14:30 (confirmed by Bark's own automated notification emails). We contacted the customer immediately and followed up repeatedly by email and WhatsApp over the following weeks, with no response at any point. When we disputed this lead, Bark's support team stated in writing that they had personally spoken to the customer by phone on 28 August 2026 — two days before the lead even existed on their own platform — and that the customer had confirmed she'd already hired someone else. When we pointed out this was impossible using Bark's own timestamps, we received an apology for an "incorrect date," followed by a revised date that happened to be identical to the date given for a separate, unrelated dispute on our account, submitted the same day. No documentation, call record, or transcript has ever been provided for either version. We've also had other tickets closed on the basis of unverifiable verbal claims with no supporting evidence, despite Bark's own policy requiring documented evidence from professionals before a claim is even reviewed. I want to be fair: Bark has previously returned credits on a goodwill basis for some leads, and their platform can be genuinely useful when leads are good. But the credit return process, when contested, relies on internal claims that in at least one documented case were provably incorrect, and the standard of evidence expected of professionals isn't app**** in reverse. If you're a professional relying on this platform, I'd suggest keeping thorough documentation of everything, because you may need it.

Bark sell old job 20 time many builders waste of money be careful guys this is **** people's day light customer post number they hiding it selling 1 job many times
> Hello, > I want to report http://Bark.com (bark.com/en/gb/ South Africa). > They advertise "Get free quotes within minutes" but builders must pay to see client phone numbers. > And when 1 builder pays, they do NOT remove the job. They sell same job to 5-10 builders. > This is unfair and wastes money for small builders.

******* collection and storage of contact details - do not use them
I landed on their website after searching for a professional service. I was immediately confronted with questions and started filling out some details (an email address), but decided that I don't want to give all my contact details without understanding how the site actually works. I specifically entered an incorrect phone number and therefore couldn't, and didn't want to, complete the process with the one-time pin that was sent. Yet, I received an email that I was now registered and a service provider even contacted me. There is no way to be able to delete this automatically registered account (that I didn't register). And to make things worse, the service provider paid money to contact me. So without my consent, the collected my information and ****med a service provider out of money.

Avoid Bark: False Advertising, Poor Vetting, and Zero Accountability
I recently used Bark to find a contractor for a kitchen renovation, expecting the "professionals" they heavily advertise. What we experienced was the complete opposite — wasted time, major damage, huge financial losses, and shocking indifference from Bark. The first contractor MDUDUZI contractor accepted the job and started work, but quickly abandoned the project. He damaged materials, wasted supplies, and left our kitchen completely unusable for many weeks. He failed to complete the work he quoted for, forcing us to hire a second contractor also through Bark. The second contractor quoted R15,000 but ended up adding another R10,000 in "extra expenses." He too handled the project unprofessionally. In total, what was meant to be a R26,000 kitchen renovation cost us R51,000. We have now had to take on extra debt and loans just to finish the job and repair the damage caused by the first contractor. Bark’s response? They simply said the first contractor received a written warning and that they would "monitor" his account. If there are more complaints, he might be suspended. That’s it. No compensation, no real assistance, nothing. They continue advertising their contractors as vetted professionals while exercising extremely loose controls that end up costing clients dearly. This experience has been incredibly stressful, expensive, and frustrating. Bark makes it sound like they stand behind their service, but in reality they take little to no responsibility when things go wrong. Strongly advise others to think twice before using Bark. Their platform lacks proper screening and support for clients when contractors fail. Save yourself the headache and money — look elsewhere for reliable contractors.

WARNING TO SERVICE PROVIDERS: UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR ON BARK.COM
WARNING TO SERVICE PROVIDERS: UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR ON BARK.COM I have been a paying Bark.com customer for a considerable period and have repeatedly purchased credits to respond to purported business leads. Between 25 May and 10 June 2026 alone, I spent 89 credits responding to 10 leads. I did what a genuine professional is expected to do: Responded promptly, often within minutes; Telephoned the leads; Sent detailed, tailored emails; Followed up by WhatsApp; Supp**** pricing and full service information; Referred leads to my business website; Asked proper scope questions; In some instances, even prepared free sample concepts and mock-ups. Despite this effort and cost, the leads produced no meaningful business. The most concerning incident was a lead who told me directly that he was not genuinely looking to appoint anyone. He said he was merely testing Bark.com and selected a branding service to see how the platform worked. That “test” still cost me paid credits. I submitted credit-return requests. Bark refused the return of 12 credits for one of the leads and stated that credits are charged for access to the customer’s contact information and the opportunity to pitch, not for a response or appointment. Bark further stated that it would generally only return credits where it can verify that contact details are invalid, such as a disconnected phone number or a bounced email. That means a phone number and email address may technically work, while the person behind them may have no genuine intention of purchasing a service. The paying professional carries that risk and expense. My complaint is not that Bark failed to guarantee me work. No reasonable person expects every lead to convert. My complaint is that professionals can apparently be charged for enquiries from people who are merely experimenting with the platform, researching casually, or have no genuine intention of hiring — provided their contact details are technically valid. Bark’s response does not address the commercial quality or genuine intent of the lead. It addresses only whether the contact details function. Professionals considering Bark.com should therefore understand the position clearly: You are paying for access to contact details, not necessarily for a verified, purchase-ready or genuinely interested customer. You may respond immediately, phone, email, follow up, prepare proposals and even produce sample work — and still lose the credits without any meaningful engagement. I have retained the lead records, credit deductions, emails, call attempts and Bark support correspondence, including support request ***6. This review is published to warn other service providers so that they can make an informed commercial decision before purchasing credits. Jan Venter Inquiry Group www.inquiry.org.za

DO NOT USE BARK!!!
Good day people My name is Jerome Chetty and I own a business called Inkosi Building Services. I was registered on a leads generation website called Bark. I engaged in clients and completed many successful jobs. I was recently blocked from having any access to any leads becasue there was a bad review about my company. Although I never did work for Bark this year. I found that strange. I then took it up to Bark and all they told me was a client gave me a bad review and they cannot tell me the reason why or give me any further details. I remember 1 year ago there were 2 incidents that happened where a person gave me a bad review on Bark and when I confronted them and clarified the issue, they apologised and told me it was the wrong company they put a bad review on. I continued using Bark. Currently, Bark has no reason to give me as to why they blocked my company off their website. Yes upgradd my account to "Elite" but saw no improvements in leads. A leads company like this cannot be trusted. They are also an international company who is not even stationed in SA. I highly recommend not using them as they take your money and not deliver services. Very very disappointed. They do not deserve a 1 star.
