Bad business policies makes for bad business. This is Hetzner

I was late on hosting payments. By two months. Hetzner deleted my websites! One of which, i have no back-up for.

Yes, deep in their automated mails, there is something about this, but how about a mail, subject:

WE ARE GOING TO DELETE YOUR WEBSITE TONIGHT!! Or an old fashioned phone call. And after 2 months?

Surely to archive a 30MB site for even 1 year can't cost more than a few cents. But they say it is gone - my assets - they simply deleted them. Hetzner's actions have cost me aroun d R20,000. Honourable would be that they re-build my wordpress site, and archive Customers sites, for even 6 months. Do the right thing Hetzner. Your current policy is good for you.......all automated, no REAL Client involvement...........shocking for keeping Customers.

Dear steve-frankel,
Thank you for affording us the opportunity to respond to your enquiry.
As you correctly state, your account was in arrears by two months and following numerous email and SMS notifications, making you aware of the consequences, your account was suspended. Following a further period and additional notifications, your account (including content) was deleted from our servers.
It is widely accepted business practice to suspend and terminate services that are rendered, but not paid for. While we regret the loss of your website content, we cannot be held responsible for your account not being paid and the consequences thereof.
Hetzner is a mass-market hosting provider and it is not feasible, nor sustainable to retain backup copies of all our past customers' content for an extensive period. Customers are therefore encouraged to retain their own backup copy of their website. Settling your account timeously will prevent this from being an issue in future.
Best wishes,
Hetzner
