Worst ISP in SA | WebAfrica
WebAfrica is the worst, least competent, slowest and most disorganized ISP I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.
1st: WebAfrica does not know how to run their own client portal. Crazy right? Surly and internet provider could get their client portal in order? Think again! Every single time, without fail, that I try to log into the client portal, I am told my email or password is incorrect. Issue is, I have my email and password set to auto-fill. I literally cannot get it wrong. On top of that, I have my details carefully written down just in case. However every time I try to log in, I am meat with an error, must reset my password and login again. The new password is accepted just that once and then it is rejected the next time. What on Earth!?
2nd: WebAfrica cannot offer you any version or semblance of support. Be it technical, billing or otherwise. If you call them, at opening time, you are kept on hold for more than 30 minutes, where a very annoying recording suggests that you should use their WhatsApp support instead.
And so after wasting 30 minutes of my life and who knows how many Rands of airtime, you change to the WhatsApp option.
Can it get worse? Definitely! If I didn't know better, I'd perhaps believe that WebAfrica has a team of slightly trained houseplants heading up their support chat.
Every time, without fail, they will take more than 30 minutes to initiate the conversation with you, after you've had to wait with Willie-the-bot as your only company. Then each further response from the untrained chat consultant takes a further 15 - 30 minutes to extract out of them, while they remind you that they are very busy.
But wait, there's more!
After about an hour or so of back and forth with a consultant who seems to know zero about network equipment or the nature of the Internet as a whole, they will suggest that they need to transfer you to a different department... This is after consultant 1 asked you the same questions over and over and you rep**** with the same answer multiple times.
Okay so were on the next departments consultant who should be fresh and better trained. Right?
Nope, this is WebAfrica baby!
You fumble around while they ask you things they should already know and then misunderstand every response you give. I mean, my English isn't the very best but I'm sure you've understood my thus far.
So we wait our 15- 30 minutes between responses and finally we get struck by a revelation by our consultant. "Thank you kindly. In this instance I would have to transfer you back to support in aid of looking into the speed issue. Kindly please hold as I transfer you through."
And with that they send you away before you can respond.
So we're waiting with Willie-the-bot for consultant number 3 ... It's only taken 4 hours to get here but hey, nothing like good customer service right?
3rd: WebAfrica has no idea how billing works. I mean I do my monthly budget on Excel, it's reliable, easy to read and it works... It seems that too much for their accounting department... No no, they perhaps use disappearing ink on very thin toilet paper to do their accounting. Or perhaps that's a little too reliable still.
When they bill you, it's be nice for it to be the correct price. However, upon them reducing the prices of their 25Mbps fibre lines from R849 per month to R499 per month, they didn't decide to let that reflect on my debit order and instead continued to bill me the higher rate.
Did I miss something? No no, they instead increased my speed to 50Mbps . Wonderful!! Except, 50Mbps is meant to be R 749, however, I was still charged R 849.
Lovely service, WebAfrica. Keep it up.
