Worst Experience with Webafrica

On the 1st of August 2023, I noticed that my Webafrica payment went up from R529 to R799. I was quite surprised as I did not receive any notifications advising of such an increase. So I contacted them and was told that this was due to an upgrade. This was even more shocking as I have no recollection of asking them to upgrade my package. So in other words, my package was upgrade without a request from me and without my consent. They claimed it was a system issue and that in order to stay connected the full amount on the new package was due. So I asked the consultant to correct the error and to move me back to the previous package, which is now considered a downgrade. She advised that she will put that request through and request a refund for the difference between those to packages. Fast forward into August, I contacted them again as I didn't receive any notifications advising of these changes. I was told this time that the downgrade is pending and once it is done a refund will be logged. I asked the consultant, if it would be corrected and if I would be charged the R529 as of 01/09/2023 and he confirmed this. Not surprisingly, on the 1st of September, one month after my initial contact, I was still charged the price for the higher package. When I contacted them again, I am told they don't know why the downgrade is delayed and that the full amount is due if I want to stay connected. On their terms and conditions, it states that a downgrade request can be made on the 20th of the month to be effective on the 1st of the next month. I made the request on 01/08/2023 which is definitely before 20/08/2023 and yet on 01/09/2023 I am still on the incorrect package. And even still, that downgrade request is irrelevant. The fact that they can just upgrade a customer's package and claim that it is a system issue and then continue to charge that customer the higher price sounds wrong and even *******. Imagine doing this to many customers. Imagine moving me to a package and forcing me to pay an even higher price and then threatening disconnection if I don't comply. Already I have paid over R500 extra. I don't have if I am even going to be moved back to the correct package or if I am going to have to continue to pay extra just to make sure my internet stays connected. Surely they should correct their error. if the system can automatically upgrade me so effortlessly, why is downgrading such a hassle???
