Hi Willem, we can understand why you're upset. Waiting for a router that was included in your package, while being unable to get a clear update after multiple follow-ups, transfers, and long wait times, is incredibly frustrating, especially when you're relying on the service to work and stay connected. We'd like the opportunity to look into this properly and find out exactly where the delay is occurring. Please send us a private message with your account details so we can review the order status, check the router delivery progress, and provide you with a more accurate update.Warm regards,
 Webafrica Crew

Hi Willem,  We can understand why you're frustrated, especially after spending so much time trying to get clarity and still not receiving a clear answer. Having checked the service type, the Vuma Reach package does not include a router as part of the installation. To help us better understand what's happened here, could you please confirm whether the fibre installation itself has already been completed? Once we have that information, we'll be in a better position to clarify the next steps and address the concerns around the router and connectivity. Warm regards,
 Webafrica Crew

Also please note for anyone using their routers, even though your router can handle up to 32/64 connections, webAfrica limits your connections. If I recall correctly its up to 7 connections. Also if your router has a lifespan of 5 years as per manufacturer documents, webAfrica refuses to replace it. So how do you connect your family if you have 4 phones, 2 printers, 2 laptops and 2 TVs that's not even having friends over to connect to the internet if webAfrica limits your connections???

Hi Willem,Thank you for the additional details. We understand that your router is an older single-band 2.4GHz device and that you’re experiencing limitations when trying to connect additional devices. The Huawei EchoLife EG8141A5 has limitations compared to newer dual-band routers, which may affect performance when multiple devices are connected. As a first step, please try restarting the router and reconnecting your devices to check if this improves the connection. If the issue continues, please let us know and we can look into the available options to assist further.Warm regards,

Hello Willem,
We understand how frustrating it must be to still be seeking answers after waiting for feedback on a matter that impacts your day-to-day usage. We appreciate the opportunity to provide some additional clarity. Having reviewed the latest notes, we can see that our Technical Team previously made contact and attempted to assist further. However, the recommended checks were not completed, which limited the team's ability to fully demonstrate the cause of the behaviour being experienced.

To clarify, the service currently installed is a Vuma Reach product. On this service, Vumatel imposes a maximum limit of 10 connected devices, consisting of:
  • Up to 9 devices connected via WiFi
  • Up to 1 device connected via LAN

This limitation applies regardless of the router make or model and is enforced by Vumatel on Vuma Reach products. As a result, replacing the current router would unfortunately not remove or resolve the device limit. If the limitation is affecting your usage requirements, we would recommend considering one of our alternative fibre products, where the number of connected devices is determined by the router's specifications rather than a network-imposed restriction.Should this be something you'd like to explore, we'd be happy to arrange for our Sales Team to reach out and discuss the available options with you.
Warm regards,
Webafrica Crew

Hi Willem,
We understand your frustration with the uncer*****y around the router and the time it has taken to get clarity. To help us understand what you’re currently experiencing, please send us a DM with the account details linked to your service, along with more information about the connection issue you’re having. Please note that Vuma Reach services connect via the ONT rather than a separate Vuma Reach router, so the details of the current connection will help us determine what assistance is needed.Warm regards,

Hello Willem,

We understand that you are looking for a clear answer regarding the router replacement and appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation. You are currently using a Vuma Reach product. On this service, Vumatel imposes a maximum limit of 10 connected devices, consisting of:• Up to 9 devices connected via WiFi
 • Up to 1 device connected via LANThis limitation is enforced by Vumatel at network level and applies regardless of the router make or model being used. As a result, even if the router were to be replaced, the outcome would remain the same. This is not a limitation of the router itself, but rather a restriction imposed by Vumatel on Vuma Reach services. If the current device limitation no longer meets your requirements, you may wish to consider one of our alternative fibre products, where the number of connected devices is determined by the router's specifications rather than a network-imposed restriction such as that app**** to Vuma Reach.Should you wish to explore alternative product options or require any further assistance, please continue engaging with us via Hello Peter and we'll gladly help.

Warm regards,

Hi Willem,

We understand that you're looking for a clear answer regarding the router and can appreciate your frustration. We want to ensure that you have the correct information available.Based on the Vuma Reach product currently linked to your address, we recommend visiting https://www.webafrica.co.za/fibre and entering your physical address. Once the available Vuma Reach products are displayed, have a look on the right-hand side where it says "Free wireless router" and select the information icon. When selecting the icon, you'll see the following information:"The router and WiFi are built into the Fibre box (ONT), which is mounted on the wall in your home by installers. So, there’s no need for additional equipment!"This confirms the information previously provided, namely that the service makes use of the ONT for routing and WiFi functionality and therefore does not require a separate router to be supp****. If you would like any further clarity regarding the product specifications or available alternatives, please continue engaging with us via direct message, and we'll gladly assist.

Warm regards,
 Webafrica Crew

There is no ONT/router mounted on my wall. ONT and router I believe is the same thing, the router provides the WIFI signal. So you say that you wont replace the router/ONT? Straight question and I need you to say YES or NO. Why do you keep on ignoring my questions?

Hi Willem,We understand why you’re asking for a direct answer, particularly as you’ve raised the same concern about the router/ONT and want clarity on the equipment provided with your service. With the Vuma Reach service currently linked to your address, there are restrictions regarding the router equipment. The device installed for this product combines the functions of both the ONT and router, including the WiFi functionality. This means the Vuma Reach service is designed to operate using this integrated device rather than a separate router and ONT.If you’re looking for a setup that allows for a separate router, you can consider an alternative fibre package available at your address, as the equipment options and specifications may differ between fibre products.Warm regards,
