Webafrica's Transphobic and *** Worker Phobic Ad Campaign

I am completely disgusted by the recent ad campaign by Webafrica. The ad campaign depicts what seems to be a cisgender man with facial hair in compromising poses wearing dresses, wigs, high heels and accessories with slogans like "For a good time." This depiction trivialises and pathologises Transgender and Non-binary persons as well as *** workers. My question is whether Webafrica's creative and marketing team is so creatively bankrupt that they have to knock Transgender persons, non-binary persons and *** workers? It is crystal clear that your creative and marketing team have done absolutely no research about the negative connotations and tropes this advert would be creating because they are most likely completely oblivious and uneducated about such issues. Well, get educated! These groupings of people, which include me as a trans womxn, are already having a very hard time facing archaic and toxically conservative attitudes towards us in South Africa regarding gender diversity and we most certainly don't need such utter disrespect. When it comes to accountability Webafrica cannot pass the buck because they approved the advert and placed it on all of their marketing channels. Webafrica you WILL remove these Transphobic and *** Worker Phobic adverts and you WILL publicly APOLOGISE!
