WebAfrica - will host you hostage for wanting to jump ship
I am disgruntled to say the least at the customer service I have received from Webafrica of late, after asking for a downgrade turned into service cancellation. I have been with Webafrica since 2018 and have had no issues with the internet delivery.
Trouble started when they silently upgraded my package(and respectively my premium). I signed up for a 55/25 package but they upped it against my will to 75/75 which also saw an almost R400 surge in premium. I asked them repeatedly(using their Live Web Chat) for a downgrade which did not yield results. This did not reach anywhere as, either: 1. Their live system kept crashing midst chatting, then when you refresh you get connected to a different agent and must start the process and explanations overs again. It's like they expect you to have nothing to do except wait on a chat with them. Their Live Chat system is just malfunctional at the least. I have signed on with a new ISP, and the one time I interacted with their support I immediately received a copy/ trail of our chat after I ended the chat - talk of transparency. Now with WebAfrica, they are asking me information out of those chats which on my end I have no backup of, and secondly the history available is trimmed. It's like they are trying to catch you unawared. 2. The option to switch from 75/75 to 55/25 was not available from my Dashboard which to seem suggests they want to tie me to the upper band. 3. Much as I initiated multiple comms, no follow ups were made from WebAfrica's end which seems to suggest that they do not care about me as a client as long as I keep pumping money their way.
After failing to obtain the downgrade I eventually opted to terminate my service due to unaffordability reasons, but now: 1. They require me to keep up another month 2. Recall whom I made the cancellation request and when, when they know full well that their system does not avail that information 3. They also do no want to early release the line to new ISP 4.
This is the worst, now I have to sit another painful with them against my will, absolutely exasperated
