WebAfrica Unauthorized Billing and Debit

I am writing this post indicating the lack of professionalism from WebAfrica. We were an existing client of BitCo's since 2020 and with much deliberation we decided to change services to help cut costs. Based on this decision we contacted BitCo to cancel our services which was done on the 23rd March 2022. The following week we received an email from BitCo indicating that they will be migrating all their FTTH services to WebAfrica but knowing this won't apply to us given that we have cancelled our services with BitCo.

Two months later we had received a bill for an amount of R1998 from WebAfrica. This was very concerning and I did not know why we were receiving a bill from WebAfrica as we have never had an account with them or utilized their services. In light of this, I had tried phoning Webafrica but their waiting times are pathetic (hour long waiting time). I then had to contact the billing department of WebAfrica via the WhatApp portal to get further clarity on this mistake. One of the agents communicated that we were being charged for the cancellation of services with WebAfrica within the 12 month period. This was ridiculous as we were never connected with WebAfrica. Knowing this was a mistake I have communicated with WebAfrica that we cancelled our services with BitCo and were never with WebAfrica or had an account with them. The agent I was dealing with indicated that this error will be corrected and revered. Not soon after that WebAfrica did an unauthorised debit order of R1998 after telling us the matter would be corrected. I immediately contacted WebAfrica and confronted them about this matter and none of the agents (4 different agents I dealt with) could not give me an answer. They then tried transferring me to a support agent which never went through and I was then left with no one contacting me.

The above-mentioned cancellation of service with BitCo should have been relayed to WebAfrica from BitCo which would have avoided all of this, and the lack of professionalism from WebAfrica is very concerning.

Further to this we never gave consent to WebAfrica to obtain our personal infomation and hold personal banking details. We never gave consent to WebAfrica to debit our account, knowing we have never signed anything with WebAfrica and have already processed our cancellation with BitCo.

I will be awaiting a response from WebAfrica and BitCo to resolve this problem.
