Webafrica - Too far gone!
For the past 2 years I've had a 100mb down and 100mb up package from Webafrica. I received a network notice from Octotel last year to notify me they would be bumping up my line speed as part of a promotional month. Several months later i realized i was being billed almost R1300 for a 200mb up and down package. strange as the advertised rate is R899pm. Never mind the fact that my line was upgraded without my consent but when i asked Webafrica to re-align the charges with the current rates i was told that i would have to cancel my current line and order a new line and also if i cancelled the new service within 12 months i would be liable for R1000 penalty. Now as ive come to understand this penalty is to cover the "Free install" and router they provide you when you sign up... but in this case my line was already installed and router already supp**** and installed as part of the original installation... Honestly when you speak with the accounts department and they refuse to see reason it makes me sick. Ive been with Webafrica for years and believe it or not there was a time Webafrica had the best support. My fibre line stopped working last night at about 5:30pm so i logged a query via the whatsapp system as it seems to be the only way to contact Webafrica anymore. Its almost Lunch time the next day and I've yet to receive a response. No Network notice had been released. Even more sad the only way to actually get a response from someone with a pulse would be to play the role of a new customer looking to sign up... see how quickly the Sales department call you. I'm starting to wonder if the consumer act would cover this, perhaps its time i seek legal advice.
