Webafrica supp**** wrong MTN LTE router and left me without reliable internet for more than two months

I signed up for a Webafrica MTN Fixed LTE package, and Webafrica supp**** me with a TP-Link Archer MR600 router.

From the start, the service kept failing. On 24 February, the LTE was activated and briefly worked after APN setup, but then the internet went down again. After repeated chats with support, I was told the SIM was being soft locked.

The most important part is this: Webafrica’s own support and system feedback showed that the SIM was being locked because of an unapproved router. I was specifically told: “MTN Device Locked - Unapproved Archer MR600(EU)2.0.”

This router was supp**** by Webafrica with the MTN package.

I also received internal feedback from Webafrica stating that: • I received the wrong router with the MTN package • The router was not compatible with the MTN network • A replacement router needed to be sent

Despite that, the issue dragged on for weeks. Some agents agreed the router was the problem, while others said the router was approved and blamed the issue on my address or location. I had to repeat the same story over and over to different agents and send the same details multiple times.

Multiple reference numbers were logged, including: • #***4 / CCT-664 • WA*** • CCT-2090 • CCT-2257

By mid-April, this was still not properly resolved. I was left without stable internet for an extended period and had to buy my own data while waiting. The most frustrating part is that Webafrica appears to have supp**** the wrong router in the first place, then kept giving conflicting explanations instead of fixing it quickly.

This is not acceptable.

Hi Altus,  we understand how frustrating this experience has been, especially with the service repeatedly dropping and the confusion around the router compatibility and SIM locking. Having to contact support multiple times, repeat your situation, and still remain without stable internet has clearly caused significant inconvenience, particularly since you also had to rely on your own data in the meantime.
From the records on our side, we can see that a router replacement was logged as part of the resolution process linked to the LTE service issue. Before we proceed further, could you please confirm whether you’ve received any feedback or updates regarding that replacement?
Once we have that confirmation, we’ll be able to guide you on the next step and ensure this is properly followed through without further delays.
Warm regards,

Can you check why web africa service is so bad. The exact reasons that i dont have internet now for two months and why the WhatsApp agents and complaints department systems so trash?

Can you help me with that also, that will be great.

Warm regards.

Hi Altus,
We understand your frustration, especially given the extended period without service and the challenges experienced when trying to get assistance through different support channels.
We are currently working on your case and it remains active with the relevant teams for full investigation. The focus at this stage is to identify the root cause of the service outage and ensure it is properly resolved so that connectivity can be restored as soon as possible.
At the same time, the router replacement query is still being verified with our technical team so we can confirm exactly when it was logged and provide you with accurate feedback.
If there’s anything specific you would like checked in the meantime, feel free to let us know and we will assist further.
Warm regards,
