Webafrica - "no strings attached"
I have had the worst customer experience with Webafrica. I was originally an LTE customer with Webafrica, until I moved into my new place, where I wanted a Fibre setup. Now, realistically speaking, it is cheaper to stay with your ISP, to avoid incurring extra costs, especially because my new place had an existing Fibre set up, so I thought.
Let me take you through my journey with switching from LTE to Fibre with Webafrica, GIVEN THAT I HAD EXISTING FIBRE INFRASTRUCTURE.
01/10/2018 - Last month of LTE Subscription (R530.00) 08/10/2018 - I ordered a Fibre Setup and had to cancel my LTE Setup 09/10/2018 - "Installation" began, well attempted to. 17/10/2018 - I was charged pro-rata for the first month of use (17-31 Oct) and a Delivery Fee for supposedly freely installed internet (R304.35 + R209.00 = R513.35) BEFORE MY FIBRE CONNECTION WAS LIVE. 19/10/2018 - After numerous calls and tickets raised that I was charged pro-rata with no Fibre connection, my internet was up and running. Just remember, I already had everything installed (beforehand) but a router. That took a good 10 days for them to wrap themselves around. 01/11/2018 - I was charged another month for LTE as part of their "no strings attached" termination clause PLUS Fibre Subscription for November (R530.00 + R630.00 = R1160.00) 01/12/2018 - December's Fibre Subscription (R630.00) 13/12/2018 - I received an invoice for R1725.00 for Installation (R1725.00) Just as a reminder, the reason why I stayed with Webafrica + Vumatel was that I had an existing setup at my new place. 13/12/2018 - Today - I layed 3 tickets. Called support (Which is not free) over 20 times. I only got through to one person, who asked me for 24-48 hours to respond. (18/12/2018) On the 26/12/2018 I had to email back to ask for feedback on my query. I received an immediate response saying that they have no recordings linked to my number, contrary to the logs I have stored. The ticket was closed, and I have not received any feedback since.
I refuse to pay that amount for the following reasons: *We were informed that the installation is free of charge, from both the site and the agent that proposed this to me. *Even so, it was stipulated on various occasions that the infrastructure exists at my property and all that was needed was a subscription and a free router *Installation for my Fibre took in excess of the stipulated time, with me trying to contact technical support to complete the installation successfully, rather then them ensuring it was completed ( Especially when you pay for a service) *I was an existing webafrica customer who had to cancel LTE and accept the termination clause (pay a month in advance) just to be faced with more unnecessary charges. *I have tried to lay support tickets, and call through to support to query the R1725 on my account and have screenshots of both, a dysfunctional website and unreached calls. I have spent enough of airtime trying to get in contact *I also have automated reply emails, promising the problem to be addressed in 24 - 48hrs, but it clear that Webafrica does not care.
