Webafrica - Misrepresentation, False Advertising and ********* Conduct

My name is Johan Steyn and I was a Webafrica LTE user.

The LTE service was not too bad - a little better than Telkom which I used before them.

But then I made the mistake of ordering Fiber though Webafrica. Webafrica clearly stated on their website that the fibre will take 30 days to install and activate. Because of THIS information I ordered the fibre on 28/04/2019, expecting the service to go active on 01/06/2019.

I got a mail from Webafrica confirming my LTE would be cancelled on 01/06/2019. Knowing the above, I did not mind when they billed me for another 30 days for the LTE internet service until 01/06/2019 and that they took the money from my credit card. I was contacted by Timothy Sheppard from Webafrica by email on 06/05/2019 and asked if they could come and install the fiber for so long. I though that it was quick and I agreed, because they mentioned in a mail that if I missed the chance, I would drop to to bottom of the waiting list (possible delays beyond 30 days).

What they did not say is that they would immediately activate it after installation and bill me for fibre for the month - in advance - even through they knew full well that they have already been paid for LTE internet for the month - in advance. It just saw the next day that Webafrica tried to take R945 from my credit card. I immediately contacted them through their stupid online support system *** which promises to get back to you within 48 hours - another lie by the way - I have waited for four days fro a response).

Bithiah Peters from Webafrica mailed back eventually with a 'glib' reply to the effect of: "Kindly note that when the fibre is installed and the line goes active, that is when the billing starts and we are billed in advance by the provider and then we bill the client. " Well bull**** to that! I did not authorize them to activate the line and start billing! Webafrica did that on their own and now they want hold my responsible for costs to the fibre provider - when they activated it without my authorization - knowing full well that I have already paid them for internet in advance for the month!

But they were quite happy to ***** me so and in so doing 'rake in' a double payment! I have now emailed them four times and they refuse the cancel the unauthorized activation and they continue daily to try and deduct the amount from my credit card. My fibre internet connection is not active, I have not used any of their fibre data, since I have not connected their modem as I haven't even taken in out of the box! But they are relentlessly pursuing the credit card deduction day by day, refusing to admit to their mistake, even though I am not using their service, nor an I using any fibre data from them! Their support service *** is an absolute joke.

My support tickets so far are:

Ticket Date

575125 16/05/2019

570015 13/05/2019

566052 09/05/2019

567924 10/05/2019

They just give you a "machine printed" reply and close the ticket! I am so fed up with this ******* and ********* provider and decided to cancel their useless service to go to another service provider, but guess what? Their month-to-month fibre deal binds you for a full 12 months otherwise you are held responsible to pay hugely inflated installation and modem costs! I am so sorry I ever signed up with Webafrica and their ********* business practices and useless support services.

I am now stuck with them for 12 months before I can cancel, unless I allow them to ***** even more money from me by cancelling prematurely! To anyone considering using Webafrica for anything - Please listen to this warning; DONT!!!! They are ********* and ruthless. Stay away!

Ps. I am very certain that they will most probably send the same carbon copy response to this mail as they do to all they others and ask me to email their useless support services at ***

Thanks
