🚨 Webafrica ****MED me out of R999 for a returned router — and then ghosted me.

If you’re considering Webafrica: don’t. Their customer service is a black hole, their billing practices are borderline *****ulent, and their internal accountability is nonexistent.

Here’s what happened: We cancelled our fibre account in good faith — gave a full calendar month’s notice and paid the R999 cancellation fee. THEY arranged courier pickup via The Courier Guy for their “free-to-use” router, and I handed it back in perfect working condition. That was end of March.

After multiple follow-ups and written confirmation from their own agents that we would not be billed for the router as we had received an invoice titled “clawback: Free-to-use router”, they billed us R999.

I flagged the charge immediately. I was told it would be “escalated” (I am still waiting to hear from the first time it was supposedly “escalated”). I asked to speak to management four times. I was told I would receive a call within 48 business hours — a call which never came. I was told refunds take 15–30 business days. I waited. And am still waiting.

Let’s be specific: • My first formal complaint was sent on 2 May 2025. • Their last email to me was on 27 May. • I sent a follow-up on 25 June — and never heard back. • It’s nearly August. And I’m still waiting.

To make things worse, they stalled my complaint because I emailed from my own account instead of my husband’s (the account holder) — despite cc’ing him and replying to an existing thread. I jumped through that hoop too, confirmed all requested details… and was promptly ghosted again.

In short: • They took R999 for a router they already have. • They admitted I shouldn’t have been billed. • They gave me the runaround. • And then they vanished.

I’ve contacted at least five different agents. I’ve asked multiple times to speak to someone in management. I’ve waited well over two months for a refund and have received nothing.

This isn’t a “delay.” This is deliberate avoidance.

Webafrica owes me money — and they owe me answers. Until then, I’ll be sharing this story everywhere I can.

This service is honestly the worst service I have ever experienced with a network provider and any business for that matter. It is absolutely incredulous how I am being held liable for something that was not my responsibility from the moment I handed it over to Webafrica’s pre-arranged courier. It is even more unbelievable how webafrica is totally avoidant of any assistance with this matter. Their systems are designed so that those that are wronged and have issues with your company cannot reach any results, real assistance and rectification/resolution.

Hopefully sharing my experience will spare any other innocent people from getting ****med out of R999 (especially in this economy). I think I’ll probably fall over on my back if this warrants a response from Webafrica themselves given how that would not be congruent with their conduct in this situation.
