WebAfrica is terrible and they good at wasting your time and full of empty promises.
I paid a connection fee as I was a returning customer - R575. I had requested to suspend the service as it was a "month-to-month" contract. I informed them in January that I would be moving houses and I have yet to confirm if they support fibre in that area. I ended up staying long and requested their services in March but spent 2 weeks without internet. Mind you, you pay upfront without guarantee whether the service is active or not. Two weeks went by with me making daily whatsapp chats which lasted over 2 hours coz the service is slow and poor. You spend 30min to get an agent to assist who then transfers you to another agent and they call that "premium" service.
After the 2 weeks of troubleshooting and spending extra money on prepaid data, I decided to quit and part ways. I spoke to the Retention team, explained my situation and reason for leaving. They sympathized and I agreed on my decision to leave and get my reconnection fee back. It didn't make sense to pay for a reconnection fee for a connection that never happened.
I was then sent back to the agents to provide my banking details which they already have. I was told the money would clear in 3-5 business days and it didn't. I was later told it would take up to 10 days. It has now taken over a year and they refuse to pay me back saying that I owe them a cancellation fee of 999 minus the 575 that's due to me.
I then took it up to twitter and went straight to useless chats on the dm's with no sign of reaching any mutual agreement to pay me back. They even stated that my claim had lapsed as per their policy. However, they forgot to mention that their company agents take 2-4 hours to respond or resolve any issues.
Further to my poor experience, I was told to log a complaint with their complaints department and they also take 24 hours to respond. They took 5 weeks to respond to the initial email. Sent Feb 8, 2024, response March 15,2024
This company is so bad that you can't even refer anyone to such and they don't care about people's time.
I still want my money back - that's a full month's worth of a Fibre instalment (50mb/25mb)
