Webafrica is terrible
Have been without service for 3 days and impossible to get any sense out of their Whatsapp chat help which appears to be the only way they can be contacted

05 Jun 2026, 09:15Hi Peter,
Being without service for 3 days is disruptive, especially when you’re relying on your connection for day-to-day needs. On top of that, struggling to get clear answers through WhatsApp support can make the situation feel even more frustrating, particularly when it seems like there’s no alternative way to reach assistance. This needs to be checked properly so we can understand what’s causing the outage and why it’s not being resolved yet. Please send a private message with your account details so the line can be reviewed, the fault status confirmed, and the issue escalated to the correct technical team if needed. This will also allow us to check what communication has been logged on your case so far and ensure you’re getting clearer updates moving forward. We’ll work with you to get this stabilised and back online as quickly as possible.Warm regards,
Webafrica Crew

08 Jun 2026, 10:09I have now gone almost a week without service. This is utterly unacceptable. Why can't I speak directly to a human being on the phone to get some explanation??? BTW I think the fault reference is #406232. The other reference# was a call reference i think

08 Jun 2026, 10:20Why can't someone call me to resolve. Why hide behind a WhatsApp msg as the only way u will allow customers to communicate. It doesn't resolve anything. A direct person to person call would be greatly appreciated.

08 Jun 2026, 16:44Thanks. Yes, it has taken a week for Webafrica to refer the fault to Vuma when the agent told me last week Tuesday already that a red light meant a line fault. So why did it take Webafrica a week to get a fault reference from Vuma? I am so angry at this pointless delay that has cost me almost R1k in data costs so far

08 Jun 2026, 16:52Thank u. I know u care about reputation, but your agents on WhatsApp don't seem to. I called Vumatel today so it wasn't even a webafrica initiative although an agent today was helpful and referred the fault to Vumatel on my request. Frankly, if u allowed for direct contact on a phone this could have probably been sorted a long time ago. Using WhatsApp just meant I was starting from scratch every day and agents can't even read previous WhatsApp messages

08 Jun 2026, 17:01Hi Peter
Thank you for taking the time to share this with us; we really do appreciate the honesty. We understand your frustration, especially having to repeat your context on WhatsApp and feeling like progress only happened once you escalated it yourself. That kind of experience is not what we want for any of our customers. It’s also important to clarify that this goes beyond reputation for us; we genuinely care about getting issues resolved properly and ensuring your experience feels consistent, regardless of the channel you use to reach us.Your feedback about WhatsApp continuity and the difficulty in maintaining context between interactions has been shared directly with our customer journey teams for review and improvement. We recognise how much time and effort this adds on your side, especially when you’re already dealing with a service fault. We also hear your point about wanting more direct and immediate voice support. Access and continuity of assistance are something we are actively working on improving so that customers aren’t left starting over each time they engage with us.We truly appreciate your patience while this is being addressed and thank you again for highlighting where we can do better.
Warm regards,

09 Jun 2026, 08:48So, it turns out Vumatel is the problem. Their system keeps saying there is an area outage since last Tuesday and Webafrica was believing that. Vumatel is giving false information. There is no area outage. It turns out they are replacing the old Zhome boxes with Huawei boxes and anyone with a Zhome box like me has no service. Vumatel are utterly arrogant and say I may have no service for 2 weeks while they replace the box. Their attitude is bad luck, we have a monopoly so accept whatever we do. This has unfortunately created blowback for Webafrica as my complaint was directed at your service. I think u guys should hold Vumatel to account for this

09 Jun 2026, 11:20Hi Peter,Thank you for the update, we're glad to hear the new ONT has been installed and that your service appears to be back up.We understand the frustration you experienced during the downtime, especially with the uncer*****y around the outage information. When changes like equipment replacements take place on the network side, it can unfortunately cause confusion and service disruption until everything is fully aligned again. For now, please keep an eye on the connection and test it when you’re able to confirm everything from home. If you notice any instability or the issue returns, let us know so we can assist further. We appreciate your patience throughout this process, and we’re here if you need anything going forward.Warm regards,
