Webafrica Incorrectly Charged My Account and Refuses to Fix It

PLEASE, PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE SIGNING UP WITH WEBAFRICA Please be extremely careful before signing up with Webafrica. Do your research and read other customers' experiences first. I was a customer for more than three years. When I moved, I gave the required cancellation notice in writing and confirmed that I wanted the cancellation to proceed. Webafrica continued billing me anyway. I have repeatedly provided them with written proof of my cancellation. They simply ignore it. They continued pursuing charges that were incorrectly added to my account and eventually handed the disputed account over to debt collectors. Now, after referring the matter to debt collection, Webafrica is refusing to engage with me further and simply tells me to deal with the debt collector. I have had to escalate the matter through external dispute-resolution and consumer-protection channels just to try to resolve charges that should never have been added to my account. Please, please be careful. Do your research before giving this company your banking details. I deeply regret ever signing up with Webafrica and would strongly recommend choosing another service provider.

Hi Sharne,  we understand your concerns regarding the cancellation process, continued billing, and the account being referred for debt collection despite the dispute you’ve raised.
We have logged the matter with our Cancellations Team for further investigation and assistance. The team will review the cancellation request and the concerns raised around the subsequent charges and account status.
Warm regards,
Webafrica Crew

But this is precisely the problem. Your Accounts/Cancellations team simply refuses to acknowledge my cancellation.
I have sent Webafrica the screenshots clearly showing when I cancelled my service and the subsequent correspondence confirming that I wanted the cancellation to proceed. Instead of addressing this evidence, I am repeatedly simply told that I owe Webafrica money. I do not.
I find the way this has been handled extremely unfair and bordering on ********. I was a good and loyal Webafrica customer for years. I paid my account consistently and on time, and when I eventually needed to cancel because I was moving, I followed the cancellation process and gave the required notice. This is how I am now being treated.
What makes this even more disappointing is that I was seriously considering using Webafrica again for fibre at my new home, and several of my friends and family were also considering Webafrica. After this experience, there is absolutely no way I will use or recommend Webafrica again!
I am not asking Webafrica to simply tell me again that I owe money. I am asking someone to actually look at the evidence of my cancellation, acknowledge it, and correct the charges that were subsequently added to my account. You can't just put whatever amount you want on my account and then pressure me into paying incorrect fees by handing me over.
Kind regards
Sharné Botha

The only response I received was Webafrica once again completely failing to engage with my actual query or address the evidence I have repeatedly provided, and instead referring me to debt collectors. Thankfully, the matter is now proceeding to ISPA mediation. Next, I will proceed with complaints to the NCC and ICASA.
