Webafrica Failed to Resolve Ongoing Fibre Issues and Still Wants to Charge Cancellation Fee

I have experienced ongoing fibre connectivity issues for several months and have repeatedly logged fault reports with Webafrica. Rather than investigating and resolving the problem, Webafrica consistently shifted the blame to Vumatel. After receiving no meaningful assistance, I escalated the matter directly with Vumatel. A technician was dispatched the very next day and, after investigating the issue, confirmed that the fault was on Webafrica's side and not with the Vumatel network as repeatedly claimed. It is deeply concerning that despite months of inadequate service, unresolved faults, and incorrect information being provided, Webafrica continues to bill for a service that has not been delivered as promised. To make matters worse, they are now attempting to enforce a notice period and charge cancellation fees, even though the service has been unreliable and largely unusable. As a customer, I should not be expected to pay for a service that has not been properly provided. Instead of taking responsibility and addressing the issue, Webafrica has focused on passing accountability elsewhere while continuing to collect payment. This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. The lack of ownership, poor communication, failure to resolve a long-standing fault, and attempts to penalize a dissatisfied customer have resulted in a complete loss of confidence in Webafrica's service and support. I would strongly caution potential customers to consider this level of service before signing up with Webafrica.

Hi Taren,
We understand how frustrating this situation has been, particularly after dealing with ongoing connectivity issues for several months, repeatedly logging faults and then receiving conflicting information about where the fault was located. We also recognise your concerns around being billed while experiencing an unreliable service, as well as the cancellation and notice period charges.
We’d like to look into the history of the faults, the feedback received from Vumatel and the concerns raised regarding the billing and cancellation. Please send us a DM with your account details and reference this review so we can locate the account and assist further.
Warm regards,
Webafrica Crew

I have emailed a screenshot of your HelloPeter response and attached it to the relevant email correspondence for your reference and records. The subject line is: “CANCELLATION FEE DISPUTE ARISING FROM SERVICE DELIVERY FAILURES.”

I am still awaiting written feedback and a resolution to this matter. To date, I have received no response or substantive feedback, despite my previous emails and follow-ups.

I am concerned that my correspondence is being disregarded, and I would appreciate your urgent attention to this matter. Please provide a written response and clear resolution as soon as possible.

Hi,

Thank you for the update.

I understand that the matter is currently being handled by the Cancellation Team. However, I would appreciate more clarity regarding the next steps, particularly as there is currently no indication of when the cancellation and outstanding matters are expected to be resolved.

Please could you confirm what is still outstanding on the account, whether anything further is required from my side, and when I can expect a further update from the relevant team?

I would appreciate this being treated as a priority and would be grateful for a clear update as soon as possible.

Extremely disappointing service and zero accountability

This is the kind of runaround I have had to deal with from Webafrica after no service was actually provided, yet I am still expected to deal with billing/cancellation issues as if everything was functioning normally.

After raising my concerns, instead of taking accountability and addressing the actual problem, I received an email telling me to contact the Billing Department via Live Chat and pointing me towards the terms and conditions.

What makes this even more frustrating is the statement that “there is currently no open fault logged against the service.” If there is no service being provided, surely the appropriate response is to investigate the issue rather than simply close the ticket and tell the customer to start another query.

The email also states that the ticket is being “closed as attended”, despite the fact that my issue has clearly not been resolved. I am then told that replies to the closed ticket may not even be monitored, meaning I have to start the entire process again.

This is not what I consider customer service. I should not have to repeatedly chase different departments, explain the same situation over and over, and be redirected to Live Chat when the underlying issue has still not been resolved.

I expect Webafrica to take accountability, properly investigate what happened, address the fact that I received no service, and resolve the cancellation/billing matter fairly rather than simply closing tickets and passing the responsibility back to the customer.

Very disappointed with how this has been handled

Hi Taren,
We recognise how frustrating this experience has been, particularly when you feel you’ve had to move between different channels and teams while still trying to resolve a matter relating to a service you say was never provided. Being directed to Billing and Live Chat without feeling that the underlying concern had been properly addressed understandably added to that frustration.
We’ve updated our Cancellation Team with the feedback you’ve shared above and asked them to take the concerns raised into consideration when reviewing the cancellation and billing matter. We want to make sure the information already provided is considered as part of the review, rather than leaving you to repeat the same circumstances again.
The team will review the matter and provide you with an update on the next steps directly.

Warm regards,
Webafrica Crew

Thank you for the response.

I appreciate that the matter has now been escalated to the Cancellation Team. However, at this stage, I am looking for an actual resolution rather than another acknowledgement of my frustration.

The issue remains that I was charged for a service that I maintain was never provided, and instead of this being properly investigated from the outset, I was repeatedly directed between departments and channels. My support ticket was then closed as “attended” even though the matter had not been resolved.

I therefore expect the Cancellation Team to properly review the full history of the matter, including the lack of service, the previous correspondence, the billing, and the cancellation request, rather than simply applying the standard cancellation process.

I also expect a clear explanation of what I am being charged for, why I am being charged for it when the service was not provided, and what Webafrica intends to do to rectify this.

I have already spent enough time trying to get this resolved. I hope the next update from the team contains a clear outcome and resolution, rather than another referral to a different department or another request for me to start the process again.

I will await the Cancellation Team’s response.
