Webafrica Debiting Me Without Consent, No Contract, Now Threatening My Credit Record

I am extremely concerned about how Webafrica is handling my account and this situation needs urgent intervention.

I moved into a property in November 2025, where the previous tenants had a Webafrica fibre service. I was asked if I wanted to take over the contract and I clearly declined. I have never signed up, never agreed to any service, and never used Webafrica.

Despite this, Webafrica debited my account R1,749.

After multiple WhatsApp conversations with different agents, I received completely contradictory information: • I was told I do not have an account • Then told there is an account in my name • Then told a “change of ownership” was done from the previous tenant to me • I was charged a R999 cancellation fee + R999 router fee (less R249 credit) • I have never received any router

Most alarming: A Webafrica agent confirmed that the previous tenant added my personal and banking details, and this is why I was debited.

How is it possible that: • An account can be transferred into my name without my consent? • My banking details can be used without any authorisation or verification? • No signed contract, OTP, or approval was required?

Webafrica has since sent me “proof”, but this document shows the account was active from 2023 to 2025, before I even moved into the property.

This clearly proves: • The account existed before I lived there • I could not have agreed to this service • I never signed any contract or debit authority

To date, Webafrica has failed to provide: • Any signed agreement • Any debit order authorisation • Any proof of router delivery with my signature

Despite this, they continue to: • Demand payment • Threaten to report me, which could impact my credit record

My bank has already confirmed this as an unauthorised debit and blocked it.

I have now escalated this matter to ISPA, but I am posting here because this needs urgent resolution.

What I expect from Webafrica immediately: 1. Written confirmation that I have no contract, no account, and no liability 2. Immediate reversal/removal of all charges 3. Written confirmation that I will not be reported to any credit bureau 4. Removal of all my personal and banking details from your system

This situation is unacceptable and points to serious failures in your verification and billing processes.

I request that a senior manager contacts me urgently to resolve this matter.
