Webafrica activated a service on my account without my permission

On the 20 Feb I received a marketing email about upgrading one's internet line. I rep**** to this email saying I had already paid for a line upgrade once before, but the upgrade was never app**** despite my having paid for it (April 2015), and can I expect that the same thing will happen if I try a line upgrade once more? (Please note that I never requested the service, simply asked a question). I never received an explanation for why the previously requested upgrade was not instated.

I received an email back from Bradwyn Pretorius, saying he has requested my line to be upgraded to 10Mbps. Rather presumptious as I had not requested this! I wrote back saying I wasn't going to pay for a second unsuccesful upgrade, and asked if an upgrade was even possible on my line.

I received an email back from Nasreen Isaacs saying they would only charge me if the upgrade was successful, and that they would confirm with me first whether I was getting the proper speed. Please note that I had still not actually requested the service at this stage, however, on the same day I received an invoice for the line upgrade, which I ignored because Nasreen said they wouldn't charge me before confirmation.

However, nobody has contacted me to confirm anything, I have tested my line speed and it has indeed been upgraded. Is this really how you operate? I haven't really had any problems with Webafrica before, but I have read my emails again and they were really not confusing/ambiguous. I merely asked about the service, and if I had been given a choice, I would have requested an 8Mpbs line and not a 10Mbps line as it is too expensive. I'm not going to pay another two times, once for an upgrade to 10mpbs and then for a downgrade to 8 mbps, and since I have already paid for an upgrade once in 2015, that was never honoured, I actually expect NOT to be billed for any further upgrade of the service, just for the line. Wouldn't you agree? I have been a client of yours for many years, so please don't start to be erratic now. I have appreciated the good service but THIS is not on. Please let me know how to proceed without interrupting my internet service.

PS. The reason why I'm writing this on a public forum is to make sure I get an appropriate and fair response.
