Unacceptable, just taking money

JEAN GOUGH <***> Thu, Apr 30, 4:35 PM (11 days ago) to consumer

2 months ago I cancelled my mom's web Africa due to her being moved to a frail care

They have now taken of 1698 off her account

When I asked they said it was

999 cancellation fee and the balance was for the router.

I can return the router but there is only drop off point in jhb or CPT which is not an option as I'm in Durban. Or I must pay 250 for them to collect it on top of the 1698 which has come off

This is ridiculous cancleation fee when we gave a month's notice.

This is a 77 year old who needs this money to live.

This is unacceptable and I need some assistance as they are not willing to assist.

Regards

Hi Jean,We understand why this situation has been so upsetting, especially given the circumstances around your mom moving into frail care and the unexpected deductions that followed after the cancellation request. We also understand your concern about the cancellation fee, the router return process, and the additional collection costs, particularly when you’re based in Durban and trying to manage this on behalf of a 77-year-old family member. Please send us a DM with the account details linked to the service so we can review the cancellation history, charges app****, and the router return options available on the account. This will allow the relevant team to assess the matter properly and assist further.Warm regards,
 Webafrica Crew

Hi Jean,We hear your frustration, especially given the circumstances around your mom’s situation and the difficulty of arranging the router return from Durban. We understand this has added unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. Please note that credit for the router can only be processed once the device has been returned and received by us, as this is required to complete the cancellation process on the account. At this stage, the router will need to be returned via one of the available drop-off points so the return can be processed accordingly.Warm regards,

How would you like me to return it in either JHB or CPT if im in durban, so i must pay another 250 for a courier to return your stupid router. Give me a drop off point in durban to return it. or do you want me to fly to JHB or CPT to return the router. Notice was given to cancel how can you charge a cancellation fee of 999 when notice was given, you just want to take pensioners money all the time

Hi Jean,
We understand how upsetting and inconvenient this situation has been, especially when you’re being asked to return equipment from a different city and questioned about cancellation fees after notice was given. We recognise how distressing this feels, particularly when it impacts your finances, and this is not how we want our customers to experience the cancellation process.
To assist you with returning the router, please see the available drop‑off locations below. Unfortunately, we do not currently have a drop‑off point in Durban, but you may return the router to either of the following warehouses:

Router Return Addresses:

Gauteng
Nology Warehouse – Centurion
Unit 3, Louwlardia Business Park
122 Bavaria Rd, Louwlardia, Centurion, 0157

Cape Town
Nology Warehouse – Montague Gardens
Unit 2, Garnet Park
6 Drill Ave, Montague Gardens, Cape Town, 7441

When returning the router, please ensure the account holder’s name and Webafrica customer code #CMB63 are clearly included with the parcel.

You can also refer to the following link for full information on router returns when cancelling:

If you require any further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us again via Hello Peter, and we’ll gladly assist.

Warm regards,
Webafrica Crew

Hi Jean,
Thank you for coming back to us. As there is no physical drop‑off point in Durban, the router will need to be returned via a courier service if you’re not able to visit one of the listed warehouses in Gauteng or Cape Town. Please note that all courier costs associated with returning the router are for the customer’s own account.
When sending the router back, please ensure the account holder’s name and Webafrica customer code #CMB63 are clearly included with the parcel so it can be correctly matched to the account.
Warm regards,
Webafrica Crew

dont worry i will smash it in pieces and leave it on the dump. you take 689 for the router and i must still spend another 150 to return your piece of junk.

thanks for taking food out of a 77 year old

Hi Jean,

We understand how upsetting and distressing this situation feels, especially when you’re facing additional costs and feeling that the burden is unfair. We recognise the impact this has had on you, and we don’t want any of our customers to feel taken advantage of or disregarded.

For clarity, the clawback amount is only applicable if the router is not returned. Once the router is successfully returned and assessed, the clawback charge will not apply. We want to ensure this is handled correctly so that no unnecessary charges remain on your account.

Warm regards,
Webafrica Crew

Hi Jean, We understand your concern regarding the cancellation fee, especially if the service has been active for several years. Based on the clawback terms, charges of this nature are typically linked to cancellations within the initial promotional or contract period, so we understand why this has raised questions for you. We’ve included this concern in the escalation already sent to the relevant team so they can review the account history, the cancellation details, and the fee app**** to confirm whether the billing is correct. Further feedback will be provided to you directly once the review has been completed. Warm regards,
 Webafrica Crew
