The struggle is real
I have an account with Webafrica consisting of 2 x 2mbps ADSL lines, one in Jeffreysbay and one in Knysna. (Live in Knysna, visit Jbay once a month) I have been trying to get them to correct the slow speed on the Knysna site for quite some time now without any luck. Speed is between 0.10mbps and 1.3mbps. The 1.3 is normally early morning, late afternoon early evening it is on average 0.30mbps. As a last resort I decided to throw some more money at them and late July requested an upgrade to 4mbps on the Knysna line. On 1 Aug they promptly and without any fault deducted the 4mbps fee from my account. No line upgrade though. I was informed Telkom need 3-5 working days to do something before I can get 4mbps. (I rent the lines from Webafrica, not Telkom.) My question as to why they did not inform Telkom 3-5 days before the end of the month went unanswered. I then also requested the cancellation of the Jbay line. That prompted a quick responce, they wanted to know why. I told them.... Yesterday (Wed 8Aug) Telkom phoned me and informed me that they received and instruction from Webafrica to upgrade my Jbay line to 4mbps..... My mail to Webafrica has still not been answered at this moment. (Thu 9Aug) 9 days still on 2mbps, paying for 4mbps only on day 8 they sent a instruction to Telkom, but for the wrong line.
