Thank you!

I have read so many negatives on Web Africa and each time I wondered if we are talking about the same service. I have an idea that their IT is on the ball but that accounts, administration and installation departments are letting the company down.

I moved my sites (7 of them) to Web Africa 2 years ago and never had a problem.

A week ago I realized that I have been hacked and that spam mail was being sent from my mail server (Web Africa). This pushed my limits (CPU, memory, etc.) over the limit. I was (cannot blame them) contacted by Web Africa to warm me that my limits are being pushed.

I lodge a support ticket and explained what was happening. Received the standard reply “Check your local machine, update your software, etc."

After spending 2 days trying to find the culprit(s) (adding firewalls, monitors, malware scans, etc.) I had my hands in my hair. This was wasting my time, energy and chased my stress level through the roof as there was a chance that my websites could be suspended and my IP blacklisted as a spammer.

I’ve updated my ticket and explained that I have tried everything in my power to stop this – no success. International boffins advised that I work through all my code on the website to find the code!

Web Africa advised that they have forwarded my case to Marius de Beer, NOC Administrator at Web Africa.

Within 30 minutes I received (it was after hours!) a mail from Marius who pointed me to the relevant file which was responsible for sending the mails. I followed his instructions to correct it and voila!! - no more mails going out!

Thanks Marius – you saved my business and gave me my sleep back! Which I thoroughly enjoyed – obviously after a celebratory glass of whiskey.....
