Technical issues with WA's fibre optic line speed
We have had an ongoing issue with our fibre optic line speed for more than 3 weeks. In short we are getting an average of around 50% of the required download speed (of 10mbps) and an average of around 80% of the required upload speed (of 5mbps) on our "uncapped premium" service. In addition, over the last 10 days, we have been unable to stream Netflix to our TV on 3 separate evenings, which has meant that I have been unable to keep the family occupied and entertained during the COVID-19 lockdown.
During this time I have (a) flagged this issue with Webafrica (WA) via their "fault reporting" page on their website on 26/03/2020 and provided copies of various line speed tests I have run on the fibre optic line; (b) noticed that the "fault reporting" page doesn't really work and thus re-reported it to WA on 10/04 via email and provided copies of the previous and additional line speed tests run; (c) follow-up again on 14/04 and provided yet more evidence of further line speed tests run; and (d) followed-up again today (16/04). In total I have provided them with more than 30 separate line speed test results, run over 4 different days and at different times, all of which show that the download and upload speeds are far below what we are being charged for and which also show massive variations in line speed.
Despite all of the above steps and information provided, WA has not acknowledged any of my follow-ups (aside from a few automated replies with "ticket reference numbers") and has been unable to suggest any solutions and/or rectify these issues.
If you are thinking of making use of WA as your ISP, I would say rather don't do it.
