Paying for speeds i do not get.

I had a 200mb line that i upgraded to a 1gb line. Provisioned and worked but then mysteriously went back to 200mb. I run a speed test every day. After waiting hours to get help they reprovisioned the line and it worked for a couple days then went back to 200mb yesterday. Contacted support and explaining everything they said they had to put me to another support section, had to wait again but instead of a support person talking to me i get a message that it was an outage and i have to switch off the router and fibre box. Needless to say that didnt fix anything so i am still sitting with a 180mb speed but im paying for a 1gb line. Very frustrated by this experience and have now learnt my lesson. I will never recommend this company to anyone.

Hi Jacques,  we completely understand your frustration, it’s understandably upsetting to be paying for a 1 Gbps line and experience speeds well below that, especially after repeated attempts to get it resolved. We appreciate you explaining everything in detail, as it really helps us understand the situation. Sometimes, speeds can be affected by a few basic settings or network factors. Here are a few steps you can check:
  1. Router and Fibre Box – Restart both devices and allow a few minutes for them to fully reconnect.
  2. Direct Connection – If possible, connect your device directly to the router using an Ethernet cable. This helps confirm whether the speed issue is Wi-Fi related or affecting the entire line.
  3. Device Limits – Disconnect other devices temporarily while running a speed test to ensure they aren’t impacting results.
  4. Router Settings – Ensure your router is configured for the correct line speed (sometimes settings revert after provisioning).
If you require further assistance after trying these steps, our support team is available to guide you through additional troubleshooting. Warm regards,
 Webafrica Crew

Hi Jacques, we completely understand how frustrating this situation must be,  having your service suspended while waiting for the issue to be resolved is understandably upsetting. Please be assured that there is an open escalation with our Faults Team, and they are reviewing the matter thoroughly. To help ensure your service can be reconnected as soon as the issue is resolved, we recommend making the payment in the meantime. This will allow the team to restore your connection smoothly once the matter has been addressed. We appreciate your patience and understanding while the Faults Team works on your service, and we’re here to assist with any updates or questions in the meantime. Warm regards,

Still no update on this and not resolved. I am now beyond annoyed. How can you expect someone to pay for a service they do not get! I just dont understand. And i was such a supporter. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. I give up with you guys honestly. I am moving on the 15th and after that i do not get what im paying for i will just cancel. I will happily pay the R1000 cancelation fee then have to deal with this kind of service. I have had enough now. I can honestly tell everyone to not use webafrica worse service i have ever had from any company.

Hi Jacques, thank you for reaching out,  we hear how frustrated and let down you feel, especially with the ongoing delays and not having received the service you expected. We understand how this has led to you considering cancellation, particularly with your move coming up on the 15th. We’ve checked your account, and there is a cancellation request currently on record. Before we proceed further, can you please confirm if you would like us to continue with the cancellation, or if you would prefer us to still try and resolve the service issue and keep the account active? Once we have your confirmation, we’ll make sure the correct next steps are taken without further delay so you’re not left waiting in uncer*****y. Warm regards,

Hi Jacques, thank you for clarifying, we understand your concern, especially with the move and needing everything to transition smoothly. We’ve checked your account and can confirm that your new installation is scheduled for the 15th, and the cancellation at your current address is set for the 16th. This means the process is aligned with your move, so you should remain connected without disruption. We understand how important it is for everything to go as planned, and your concern about having to consider permanent cancellation if it doesn’t is noted. At this stage, everything is in place for the move, but if anything doesn’t go as expected, please reach out so it can be addressed quickly.Warm regards,

So i checked yesterday evening and i had 1gb speeds. Im assuming they reprovisioned the line again last night and thats why it worked for a few hours.

Moved today and finally got my pc connected now and guess what..back to 180mbs.
I am beyond ****ed off now. i give up with your company. I will be cancelling. You cannot reasonably expect me to pay for a 1gbs line and get 180mbs. That is madness.

The fact that i even have to respond on here because i get run around in circles on your app by the agents and now you are gaslighting me by telling me you are doing everything you can ...yea right shows me everything i need to know.
Im not sure whats wrong but i do know that the problem is not with vuma, or the line provider the problem is on Webafrica side.

Hello,

We understand how frustrating and disappointing this experience must be, especially after seeing your speeds fluctuate and not being able to consistently receive the service you are paying for. It is also acknowledged how exhausting it is when repeated attempts to get clear support do not resolve the matter.

A technical support callback has been arranged to urgently review your line performance and assist in identifying the cause of the speed inconsistency. The team will contact you directly to provide further assistance and work towards a resolution.

If you need any further assistance, you are welcome to reach out via Hello Peter so this can be followed up accordingly.

Warm regards,
Webafrica Crew

Update on this. Had someone from vuma come and test and then escalated it again. He said someone at the top of Vuma is made aware and they will get back to me. Since then i havent heard anything and its still the same story. Webafrica sent me a router in the meantime which i connected and put in my account details but it didnt work.. unable to connect with it so dont know what the point of that was. So again..im still paying for a service im not getting and not getting feedback. At this point i have no choice but to cancel and find another provider.

Hi Jacques, we hear your frustration, and we understand how disappointing this situation has been, especially with the ongoing lack of feedback, no resolution from the Vuma escalation, and still not having a working service while you’re being billed. That’s not the experience we want for you at all. We also acknowledge your point about the router sent in the meantime not resolving the issue,  we understand how that would feel unhelpful when you’re still unable to get connected. Right now, we’re following this up again directly with the technical and escalation teams as a priority, including the outstanding feedback expected from Vuma. We’re treating this as urgent and will be pushing for a clear update and direction on the actual fault status and next steps. We will come back to you with a proper update as soon as we have confirmation from the relevant teams, so you’re not left in the dark again. Warm regards,
 Webafrica Crew
