We understand how frustrating it is to lose your connection after a power outage, especially when you’re trying to get help through the app. 💗

There are currently no reported MetroFibre outages for the area, so the first step is to restart your equipment safely. A power interruption can cause the ONT and router to lose synchronisation, and a proper reboot can often restore the connection.
Please follow these steps:
- Switch off your router and fibre ONT at the power plugs.
- Leave both devices off for 60 seconds.
- Switch the ONT on first and allow it 2–3 minutes to stabilise.
- Switch the router back on and allow another 2–3 minutes for it to connect.
- Check whether the internet connection has been restored.
If you’re still offline:
- Check the lights on both the ONT and router and note whether any are red, flashing, or off.
- Check that the Ethernet cable between the ONT and router is securely connected.
- If possible, test the connection on another device.
- Do not factory reset the router, as this can remove the configuration required for your service.
The light status and results after the reboot are important because they help our Technical Support team determine whether the issue is with the router, ONT, fibre connection or network, rather than simply repeating the same troubleshooting steps.
We hope the reboot gets you back online quickly. If not, please reach out via private message with the ONT (Metrofibre installed hardware) /router light status so we can take the investigation further.
Need to manage your service while you’re getting back online? The Webafrica App keeps your account and support options close at hand.
