MISLEADING PROMOTION WEBAFRICA FIBRE

Earleir this year I wanted to change my fibre provider. I found a promotion from Webafrica on Google. The promotion was pay for 100mbps download and 100mbps and recived 3 times the speeds It was stated that I will recieve 300mbps download and 200mbps. I made contact with Webafrica anmd placed an order. Some time after the order I contacted them as I was still waiting for my order activation. I was informed that my order was cancelled by their system in error. My order was then resubmitted. I then had to enquire again as I did not recieve my order. I was then again inforfmed that my order was cancelled by their system in error. My order was then again resubmitted. I eventually got the firbre I ordered. This is where everything went further south. I did not recieve the download and upload speeds as per the advert which I acted upon. I contacted them on their whatsApp number which was a horrifying experience. I spoke to a specific person, explained my enquiry, waited a very long time for a response only to be transferred to someone else. I had to then, again explain the whole story after which it was indicated thatg the session is ended do to no communication from my side. This took place numerous times and still had no answer to why I do not recieve the advertised speeds as the promotion. I once more contacted webafrica. I was referred to the technical department who indicated that he will reset the line. I was guided int tems of the resetting of my modem. After that was done my download and upload speeds was as per the promotion. Through all the whatsapp communication I was aksed to rate them as I could win a prize. This was, howver short lived. My speeds are back to about 150mbps. I offically withdraw all positive reviews as the company is not worthy of it. I am horrified with the service Ievels and the not honouring of the level of serivce as promised in the promotion. Presently I will NEVER recommend Webafrica to anyone

Hello Nicolas,

We understand how frustrating this experience has been, especially with the repeated order cancellations, the mismatch between the advertised promotion and expected speeds, and the challenges faced when trying to get consistent support. This is not the experience you should have had when joining on a promotional offering.

Your account has been reviewed, and the service profile is correctly configured on our side. To properly isolate the cause of the speed fluctuation and ensure a stable resolution path, a structured diagnostic approach is required to determine whether the issue is WiFi-related or line-related.

Kindly complete the following tests:

Stand close to the router and ensure you are connected to the 5GHz WiFi network, then run a speed test
Use a computer where possible, as this provides more accurate results than mobile devices
If speeds remain inconsistent, connect the computer directly to the ZTE router using an Ethernet cable and run another speed test

These results will allow for accurate confirmation of whether the limitation is occurring on the internal WiFi network or on the fibre line itself, and will guide the next corrective steps accordingly.

Once the results are received via private message on Hello Peter, they will be reviewed and the appropriate action will be taken to stabilise the service and resolve the underlying performance concerns.

Kind regards,
Webafrica Crew

Your response on 22 April 2026 refers. I have followed the process as indicated. The speeds were found to be at acceptable levels. Download sppeds were between 265 and 278 mbps and upload speeds of between 202 and 203 mbps. The tests were conducted periodically over a period of time. I did not have a USB-to-Ethernet adapter and couid not connect the laptop directly to the router. The speeds, during the time tested returned to the following speeds, which at times were under 100 mbps.
Download speeds were between 66 and 150mbps and upload speeds between 10 and 14 mbps. This is absolutley shocking. This needs to be sorted out if Web Africa wantsd to keep me as a customer. To top it all I was charged double. I did not get any invoice to explain this. As a pensioner I have a tight budget. I do not say that the deduction was irregular. It could have been dealt with in a better way. I was never informed that there will be a double payment due and the reason therefore
This let a person believe that it is all aboutr the company and never about the service to its customers

Hi Nicolas,  we understand your frustration with the speed fluctuations and the impact this is having on your overall experience, especially after previously seeing better performance during testing. Based on what you’ve shared so far, the results indicate that the connection can reach expected speeds, but the inconsistent drop in performance suggests there may be variability affecting stability at certain times or under certain conditions. To help narrow this down further, please continue running tests on the 5GHz network at different times of the day and, if possible, try using another device connected to the same WiFi to compare results. This will help determine whether the behaviour is network-wide or device-specific. Once we have a clearer pattern from these tests, we’ll be able to identify the most appropriate fix to stabilise your experience. Warm regards,

I have done as WebAfrica's representative suggested.
I connected a different device. The results were even worse. It was less then 100 Mbps up and download speeds. The device was in close proximity to the modem. I then connected the device directly to the modem using a data canal. The download and upload speeds drastically changed. The download and upload speeds was were both were between 278 and 290 Mbps. I believe that either the modem is either of an inferior quality or faulty. I am, at the moment not getting the service I pay for and WebAfrica let me do all the fault finding. That is inferior customer service

Hi Nicolas, We hear your frustration, especially after taking the time to run multiple tests and still not getting consistent WiFi performance despite strong results when connected directly to the router. We also understand your concern about feeling like too much of the troubleshooting has been placed on your side. Based on the results you’ve shared, it does strongly indicate that the fibre line itself is performing as expected, while the issue is likely related to the router’s WiFi performance or wireless environment affecting stability. We have now requested our technical team to look into this and assist further, so the behaviour can be properly reviewed and the most appropriate fix identified to restore stable WiFi performance. Warm regards,
