Misleading “Month-to-Month” Contract and Changing Cancellation Rules by WebAfrica

I am on a month-to-month LTE contract with Telkom via WebAfrica. Before committing, I specifically asked about cancellation and was told by a WebAfrica customer service consultant that it required 30 days’ notice. On that basis, I proceeded.

Now that I have formally requested cancellation, I’m suddenly being told a completely different story, that cancellation can only take effect at the end of a full calendar month, forcing me to pay for an additional month I neither want nor need.

This is unacceptable. You cannot market a service as month-to-month, advise customers that cancellation is 30 days’ notice, and then hide behind “it’s in the T&Cs” when the customer actually tries to cancel. That is misleading, inconsistent, and feels deliberately designed to trap customers into extra billing.

If cancellation is tied to calendar months, then it should be clearly and prominently disclosed upfront, and customer service agents should not provide contradictory information. A clause buried in T&Cs does not override incorrect advice given by your own consultants, nor does it make this practice fair or ethical.

I am requesting that my cancellation be honoured based on the 30 days’ notice I was explicitly advised. Anything else is effectively enforcing a hidden fixed-term obligation under the guise of a month-to-month contract.

I expect WebAfrica and Telkom to take accountability for this misleading process and resolve it properly.
