Internet connection
I have been trying to contact webafrica about my internet connection, the LOS has a red light. I’m an online student and I am frustrated because I am writing a test from 9-12

07 May 2026, 10:24Hi Anathi, we understand the frustration, especially with your LOS light showing red and the connection not working.
A red LOS light usually means there is no fibre signal reaching your home, which points to a line issue rather than your router or devices.
Please try this quick reset:
- Switch off the router and ONT
- Unplug both for 5–10 minutes
- Plug the ONT back in first and wait for the lights to stabilise
- Then switch the router back on
If the LOS light remains red, it indicates a fibre line fault outside the home setup, and the service will not restore until the signal is back on the network side.
Warm regards,

07 May 2026, 11:41Hi Anathi, understood, and thanks for confirming that you’ve already tried the reset steps and the connection is still not coming back.
To narrow this down properly, can you just confirm what you’re currently seeing on your side right now?
- Is the LOS light still red or flashing?
- Are the PON lights on at all?
- Is the WiFi connecting but showing “no internet”, or is there no connection completely?
This will help pinpoint whether we’re dealing with a full fibre signal loss or a different fault on the line so the right fix can be app**** without unnecessary delays.
Once you confirm what the lights are doing, the next step will be much clearer.

07 May 2026, 12:06Hi Anathi, thanks for confirming, that detail helps a lot.
With the LOS flashing red and the PON light off, it confirms that the router is not receiving any fibre signal from the network. Since WLAN and power are on, your router itself is still working, but the issue is coming from the fibre line side (not your home setup or WiFi).
At this point, there isn’t a local reset or setup change that can restore the connection, because the ONT is not detecting the incoming fibre signal. This usually points to a line interruption outside the property (for example at the pole, cabinet, or network side).
The next step is for the line to be checked and restored from the fibre provider side so the signal can come back to your ONT.
A fault has now been logged under reference WA*** and has been sent to the technical team for investigation and resolution on the network side.
We’ll keep monitoring this with you, but if anything changes on the lights (especially if PON comes back on), please let us know immediately so we can guide you further in real time.
