From bad to worse

My husband, who pays for our internet, is paid on the first of the month. We've never had an issue with our internet being paid on the 1st of the month. On 28 January 2025 we received an email from Web Africa that if the internet is not paid by 31 January 2025, our account would be suspended. We woke up on 31 January 2025 to a suspended account. A friend helped us with funds for the internet, as my husband works from home and is reliant on the internet and we paid the internet on 31 January 2025. We immediately emailed Web Africa the proof of payment and my husband called in as well. We were sent to WhatsApp chat where my husband explained to the lady that he had an overseas job interview via video call on 31 January 2025. He has since forfeited the position as he could not do the interview. My husband works from home and he needs the internet to be able to do his job, guess what? 5 Days later and still no internet!!! Now they are asking for a R 566.00 reconnection fee. Why? When the account was paid on 31 January and you jumped the gun and suspended the account? Not only have they cost my husband a potential job, but they are also now the reason that he is unable to work and if he can't work he can't get paid. So I would like to know if they will compensate us for this loss. This is no way to treat your customers. We're being sent from pillar to post to have this resolved and instead of assisting you are asking for more money. I am beyond angry at this stage.

So we are on day six and still no internet. Turns out that our account was not suspended, but cancelled. Please tell me why? So due this untimely cancellation we now have to wait on Vumatel to reactivate our line and this they can't do without instruction from WebAfrica. So if our payment date is the 1st day of the month and we paid on the last day of the month, why would you cancel the line? Please explain this to me. And to add insult to injury they are still demanding a R 566.00 re-activation fee!! That's not even all, the reason they cancelled our Service is because the 1st fell on a Saturday and they don't have technicians working on Saturdays to tend to disconnections. What?!!! I am done. We are losing income due to this and they are doing absolutely nothing to help us. I am escalating this to the INDEPENDENT COMMUNICATIONS AUTHORITY OF SOUTH AFRICA, there is no way they should be allowed to do what they're doing.

Day seven and still no internet!!! No one is willing to help and they are still insisting on the R566.00 reactivation fee. Vumatel can't activate the line as they need instruction from Webafrica who's now just outright sending us from pillar to post. We have escalated the issue to the INDEPENDENT COMMUNICATIONS AUTHORITY OF SOUTH AFRICA. This is just not on!! This is not how you treat customers. It's another day that my husband's unable to work, and Webafrica just does not care. Absolutely PATHETIC!
