Extremely poor service!
Extremely poor service and unresolved internet issues
I have been experiencing problems with my Webafrica WiFi for more than two weeks. Every day, a red light comes on on my router and my internet completely cuts out, sometimes for up to 30 minutes at a time.
I contacted Webafrica for assistance and was simply told to switch the router off and on again. I did this, but the problem continued. I then tried resetting the router myself in an attempt to resolve the issue.
After all of this, I was eventually told that a technician needs to come out, but I now have to wait up to 72 hours for someone to attend to the problem.
I am paying for an internet service that I am not receiving consistently, and I have already spent far too much time trying to get this resolved.
What is most frustrating is that I have had to keep trying to troubleshoot the problem myself instead of Webafrica properly investigating the fault from the beginning.
I expect Webafrica to take responsibility for this issue, send a technician as soon as possible, properly identify the cause of the fault and provide a permanent solution.
I should not have to keep paying for a service that disconnects every single day.
We understand how frustrating it is to have your connection drop repeatedly for more than two weeks, particularly when the red light on your router appears, and you’ve already spent time working through troubleshooting without a lasting solution. We can confirm that our Support team assisted you earlier today, completed troubleshooting, and logged a line fault for further investigation to resolve and restore your connection. You’ll continue receiving SMS updates as the fault progresses. For a Vuma Reach service, the red indicator is an important clue. While the exact meaning depends on which light is red, a recurring loss of the fibre/connection indicator can point to an issue between the router/ONT and the fibre network rather than a simple WiFi problem. While the fault is being investigated, a few checks may help:
- Check the fibre/ONT lights: If your ONT has a red LOS light, note the time it appears and whether it coincides with the internet dropping. This can help identify a fibre signal issue.
- Avoid resetting the router again: Since the fault has now been logged, repeated factory resets could remove settings that the technical team may need when investigating.
- Check whether Ethernet is affected: If possible, connect a device directly to the router via Ethernet when the issue occurs. If the wired connection also drops, this helps rule out a WiFi-only problem.
- Record the interruptions: Note the time each outage starts, how long it lasts, and which router/ONT lights are showing. A recurring pattern can be useful to the technical team.
- Check all fibre connections: Make sure the fibre cable and power connections to the ONT/router are firmly connected. Avoid bending or disconnecting the fibre cable unnecessarily.
- During an outage, check the ONT: If the ONT remains powered but the fibre signal drops, leave the equipment as-is where possible and note the light status rather than repeatedly rebooting it. This can preserve useful information for the investigation.
Warm regards,
Webafrica Crew
