WEB AFRICA

I've been a client of JCW Hosting (a web hosting company) for five years and never had any problems until they were bought over by Web Africa in late 2016. I never heard much from Web Africa except for one email notifying me about the "merger", telling me all will remain same, just better. So when my subscription was about to end I tried re-newing it the same way I always did, EFT ZAR300 into their account, except this time the payment did't go throuh. So I was hoping maybe they'll send me an invoice or communicate with me about the new arrangement. The next thing that happened was my account was suspended. I googled their numbers to try and make them aware of my predicament and they gave me their account number. I promply deposited the usual annual fee as I've done in the past. After 2 days they hadn't restored my website so I contacted them to follow up and to my suprise they told me i needed to pay an extra R700. And when I enquired as to why their accounts lady got very defensive, giving me one excuse after another - from inflation to forex. She flat out refused to give me a refund and pretty much telling me I'll get the same answer even from her superiors. My point was, if they were going to increase my account by 230% they should have given me notice to look for a more competative host. I feel they waiting this long so they could ****** money now that they know I can't do any work. I would rather pay the same amount of money at a company that cares a litle bit about its customers.
