Disappointed by False Promises, Poor Communication and Shifting Goalposts

I recently signed up for Webafrica’s MTN LTE SIM-only deal, expecting a smooth, plug-and-play experience using my existing MTN-approved ZTE MF286C router. Unfortunately, the experience was frustrating from the start.

After less than an hour of use, the SIM was suddenly locked. When I contacted support, I was told the router was no longer compatible. One of the agents, Yolanda, then informed me that as of the beginning of August, Webafrica now only allows 5G routers on their LTE SIM-only products.

What’s deeply concerning is that I purchased the product on the 30th of July 2025, before this apparent policy change. There was no communication about any such upcoming restriction — not on the website, during the purchase process, or in the welcome materials.

This kind of retroactive enforcement and lack of transparency is unacceptable. To make things worse, each support agent gave a different explanation, and no one could take accountability or offer real technical assistance. Eventually, I had no choice but to cancel the deal out of sheer frustration.

A simple LTE sign-up turned into a time-wasting experience plagued by shifting goalposts, poor communication, and inconsistent support. I cannot recommend Webafrica to anyone who values technical clarity, accountability, and customer service.
