26 Mar 2026, 12:52Hi Bafana, we completely understand how frustrating it must be to deal with Wi-Fi that keeps cutting out, especially when you’re trying to work from home, it’s stressful, and it’s understandable that this has affected your day-to-day tasks. Thank you for letting us know.Let’s try a few easy steps to help get your connection back to normal:
Webafrica Crew
- Restart your router – switch it off, wait 10 seconds, and switch it back on. This simple step often helps refresh the connection.
- Check any Wi-Fi extenders – make sure they are on and not too far from your main router.
- Connect directly to the main router – if you can, use a cable to connect your laptop or computer. This helps check if the Wi-Fi signal itself is the issue.
- Limit other devices temporarily – phones, tablets, or TVs can affect speed. Try disconnecting a few while working.
- Place your router in a central spot – avoid cupboards or behind furniture, as walls can block the signal.

26 Mar 2026, 13:40Hi Bafana, we can see how much effort you’ve already put into trying to resolve this, and it’s understandably frustrating to still be dealing with constant disconnections after two months, especially while working from home. We really appreciate you walking through all those steps already. To help us pinpoint exactly where the issue is coming from, we just need a bit more clarity on what happens when the connection drops:
Webafrica Crew
- When the issue happens, does your Wi-Fi name disappear completely from your device, or does it stay visible but show “Connected, no internet access”?
- Power light – should stay solid
- PON light – should stay solid
- LOS light – should be off (if it turns red or flashes, it indicates a line issue)
- WLAN light – shows Wi-Fi activity

26 Mar 2026, 14:03Hi Bafana, based on everything you’ve shared so far, the next step is to isolate exactly where the issue is coming from so we can move forward with the right fix. As a final check, if possible, please try connecting your laptop directly to the router using an Ethernet cable and monitor the connection for a while:
Webafrica Crew
- If the connection stays stable, then the issue is likely related to the Wi-Fi signal or interference.
- If the connection still disconnects, then it confirms the problem is affecting the entire line or router, not just Wi-Fi.

27 Mar 2026, 12:52I have connected my laptop directly to the router using an Ethernet cable however that is not helping as well.
It connects then disconnect again while I am working from home.
This morning I went outside to check the wires connecting to my router and I think the problem might arise from them being between trees while its raining.the best solution is to send a technician

27 Mar 2026, 13:09 Hi Bafana. Thanks for taking the time to test with a direct Ethernet connection and for sharing what you’ve noticed on the external cabling. That’s really helpful, and we completely get how disruptive this is, especially while you’re working from home. You’ve made a very valid point. Based on what you’ve described, this may very likely be related to the external infrastructure, particularly if the cabling is exposed and affected by weather conditions. We have arranged for our tech support team to get in touch to possibly log a technical fault with Vumatel maintenance so that the infrastructure setup can be properly assessed and corrected. This will allow the relevant team to investigate the line and arrange for a technician if needed. We will need to troubleshoot before we're able to log the line fault. Our team will be in touch with you as soon as possible to help with the next steps. We’ve got you, and we’ll work to get your connection stable again as quickly as possible.
Warm regards,
