Completely mislead by webafrica
I'm so disappointed. I've had a few friends complain about webafrica's slow service etc, but up to this point i've only had great service from them. And great internet. I recently moved residence and requested that i keep the exact same fibre product I was on. I made a call and everything was sorted. I was told there is fibre available in my new area and we don't have to cancel anything just move it over. The techs very promptly came over and sorted it all out. Awesome. But... When I originally signed up to webafrica the installation was free. Not this time. I promptly got an email invoice with a R2300 installation fee. Now, I understand that they were running a special originally with no installation fee, but at no point ever was I told about the installation fee. Not on the call not on a email quotation, not even when the techs came round. From what I have read and understand about the consumer protection act this is actually *******; You cannot charge a customer for any services without prior consent. When I sent the query to webafrica my actual question wasn't addressed and the support ticket was just closed. I sent a second one and they apologised but said that there is nothing they can do because the fee is for open serve. I don't think that changes anything it's a webafrica invoice. I was never given the chance to asses my options. Had I known about the installation fee I could have cancelled with webafrica and gone another route. When everyone is back in the office I'll certainly be seeking clarity from my lawyer friend on this.
But of course there is more. I am also currently being double charged. For the old service and a new one of exactly the same thing, never mind just moving my old service over. Bad...
