Bad service and you need Whatsapp if you want support or to cancel
I've been having intermittent connection issues for the past year. I do not use Whatsapp however that seems to be the only way to contact Webafrica as their call center either doesn't answer the phone (was on hold for 1 hour and 9 min today with no answer) or takes extremely long to answer the phone (last time I got through to someone I was on hold for ~40min).
My main concern is not the intermittent connection issues as I have no issue dealing with Support to figure it out and resolve the it, my problem is with getting hold of their Support (and now their cancellation process).
I find it absurd that I am basically forced to sign up for a third-party service (Whatsapp) that they have no control over in order to get "effective" support from them.
Even worse, you can't cancel your service via their online portal (client zone). If you try and cancel your service you are redirected to install Whatsapp and reach out to their Support and if you decide to do that then you are advised to you need to give a calendar months notice, aka if you cancel on the 5 September you are locked in until 31 October.
I understand that this might be considered a standard cancellation period, but the problem comes in if you need to rely on their service to do your job but their service is intermittent and you are unable to resolve the issue with them due to a lack of proper support channels, then deciding to move to another service provider only to be told you have to stay with them for an additional month.
They did offer to release my line, however I will still be charged for the month after I stopped using them. They're holding their customer hostage. On their website they say they are month-to-month and do disclaim that you are required to give a calendar months notice, however I feel that it is misleading to call it month-to-month (canceling after the first of a month and then basically having to wait almost 2 months to move does not feel like "month-to-month" for me.
Their service is bad, they force you to install 3rd party services in order to get support and if you're unhappy you can leave... with about 2 months notice...
I would also like to add that I've been a customer of theirs for ~5 years and their service wasn't always this bad, however it's slowly been degraded to the sad state it is in today.
