Morning  Mark.

We understand how frustrating it is to be without internet for more than 24 hours, especially when the only feedback you’re receiving is that it is related to a MetroFibre issue. When your fibre service is down for this long, it’s completely understandable to want clearer technical details and more visibility on what is happening.
At the moment, your connection is being affected by a confirmed MetroFibre Networx outage impacting customers in Nelson Mandela Bay / Port Elizabeth / Humewood
Outage Details:
  •  Outage ID: 159080
  •  Logged: 6 May 2026 at 06:26
  •  Affected Area: MetroFibre Networx customers in Nelson Mandela Bay / Port Elizabeth / Humewood

In situations like this, the fault sits on the fibre network infrastructure managed by the Fibre Network Operator, in this case, MetroFibre Networx. While your fibre service is provided through Webafrica, the underlying physical fibre network, including repairs and restoration work, is handled directly by the network provider. This means our teams rely on their technicians and infrastructure teams for restoration progress and technical resolution updates.

To help you stay updated in real time, you can monitor outage information directly through the Webafrica App:
How to check outage updates in the app:
  1.  Open and log in to the Webafrica App
  2.  Navigate to the Network Status or Outages section
  3.  Select your area or active service
  4.  View the latest outage updates, estimated restoration feedback, and status changes linked to the outage

You can also enable outage notifications in the app, so updates come through automatically:
  1.  Log in to the Webafrica mobile app
  2.  Tap the bell icon at the top right of the screen
  3.  Open the Notifications Inbox
  4.  Tap the settings icon in the top-right corner
  5.  Enable:
    •  Push Notifications
    •  Informational Updates
    •  Network Outage Alerts

Please also ensure notifications are allowed on your phone under:
  • Phone Settings > Apps > Webafrica > Notifications

We completely understand how disruptive this downtime is. Our teams are actively monitoring the MetroFibre outage for updates and restoration progress.

Warm regards,
Webafrica Crew
